A perfect combo
I can't believe only 3 people made this game. Team Cherry manages to combine metroidvania and souls elements to create something truly special. The art style is unique and interesting, bosses are fun and challenging and the attention to detail is impressive. One of the best games i've played in recent years and a must have if you like metroidvanias at all.

Great game but...
This is overall a fantastic game. The atmosphere is so eerie and has an aura of constant sadness around it. It adds alot to the overall feel of the game. The game is huge. A lot larger than i initially thought. After exploring and gaining new ways to get around it slowly opens up and just gets larger and larger. And each area almost always brings something new to the game. New hazard, new type of platforms and of course new enemies to learn to read and tackle. The punishing deaths adds an extra tension to the game. Sure it sucks when you lose out on a crapton of geo(i.e. the currency of the game). But in the long run this isn't a big issue. You will have plenty near the end anyway. SPOILER ALERT: The game has multiple endings. First there are the vanilla endings and then there are added endings with the final update of the game one which are the true ending. Took me 19 hours to get to the bad ending but this ofc did include doing a lot of the things from the dlc-updates before even trying to tackle it. Here come the kicker. To get this ending besides needing to do a lot of stuff prior .You need to play through a set of boss-rushes. Which is a huge challenge in itself. This game is far from easy even when you have upgraded everything and feel all powerful. Having boss-rushes as a mandatory part is just frustrating up to the point I'm close to giving up on the game. I don't mind that type of challenges as an optional thing. But adding them as requirement to get the true ending of the game is just terrible. Especially with some bosses being really hard on their own(inb4 git gud). So in short. Great Game with some less than stellar decisions for the end part of it. If you don't care about that or don't mind tackle heavy challenges possibly plenty of times then by all mean do buy this game It's worth it. There is plenty of enjoyment here despise the negatives.

One Of The Best Games Of All Time
Simply and amazing and beautiful game. It was my 2017 game of the year. Everything about this game is incredible. Beautiful hand drawn artwork and animations. Smooth and responsive gameplay. Wonderfully built world dripping with hidden lore that encourages exploration. Beautiful soundtrack as well. Its fun, and addictive. And all this done by a team, of three people who drip love and care into every aspect of the game. I've bought the game FIVE times so far on different platforms. I've cosplayed the character. I've bought a lot of merch for it. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended. (I own it on Steam, PC physical, Switch digital and physical, and PS4 physical). Excellence
Not over with it yet but I'm having the most fun I've had from a metroidvania. Perfect controls, eerie and great atmosphere/music/graphics... And all the tiny details of the story and mini-stories with the side characters are simply great. Running back and forth it's been a drawback from me with most metroidvanias, in this one I dont feel that way. It's fun to move through that world. And the price-tag... I would say fair, but on the too cheap side. 10/10

Masterpiece.
Hollow Knight is a materpiece. There's no better way to put it. The game screams of quality in terms of graphics, gameplay, story, sound and music. It will take you around 30 hours or more to explore and conquer Hallow Knight's vast and intricate world. The platforming is very tight and precise, the combat is deliberate and tactile, and the lore and exploring the world is fascinating and captivating. One of the best parts of this game is there's little to no handholding. You figure out a lot of the world, the game itself and its various mechanics. The game is also quite challenging and many bosses will require several attempts and re-thinking your strategy and approach before beating it. The world is not procedurally generated and is one sprawling and vast 2d landscape made up of distinct but well blending areas with varied scenery and unique obstacles. Enough reading.. if you like 2d platforming games, especially of the metroidvania genre, this is possibly the best metroidvania game on PC till date. Brilliant.
