Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete

This is an excellent game with all of the expansions that came out for it. It is, however, the original product with some older graphics. You can get a mod [HOMM3 HD] for it from https://sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/ which enhanced the graphics and lets you run more modern resolutions. Install it to the same place HOMM3:Complete was installed. The HD edition [on steam] does it slightly better, only becasue it increases the size of the sprites [character images, monsters, towns, etc..] However, it is perfectly playable and pretty with the HD mod above. It just looks like you increased the resolution and while the images are clearer and not stretched they are small at 1900x1080 for me. I will tkae that over not being able to play the expansion packs, though, myself. The trick to fixing the mod above for the GOG game launcher is after you run the hd launcher and make heroes3 hd.exe, remane the Heroes3.exe file to heroes3.bak then change the name of Heroes3 HD.exe to Heroes3.exe It will then launch from the GOG game app. You should only need to run the HD launcher one time and configure the settings how you like, you can always run thehd launcher again and then rename the file to Heroes3.exe if you need to do something differnet BTW. The auto saving feature should be paid attention to, I find it annoying to save every turn, too many saves to wade though for me. Goodluck and enjoy. If you mess it up too bd, just go to gog, and uninstall, then reinstall to get back to base install settings. Cheers.

Heroes Of Might & Magic 3, to me was the best of the Franchise. -- Best Visually Stunning Graphix & Picture Of The 1st 3 Games -- It's the Last Of The Series To Stick To The Game's Interface Design -- Heroes Of Might & Magic 4 & 5 cut back on the Interface -- All the Later Games cut back on things, but also altered the Visuals, too The Positives, Managing your Heroes, Inventory, & Spell Book were pleasing, The Landscape was well liked, the lighting & shadows on everything looked great, the Combat was a lot of fun, & the Video Animations were great for it's time. The Negatives, there were a few things I felt were cut back from the 1st 2 Games, but they weren't all that important. The Videos were great for their time, but don't live up to Today's Cinematics in Gaming. The Character Animations were impresive for it's time, but Today they would be a hinderance on the Game, & would not pass for Today. All In All, I really enjoyed Heroes Of Might & Magic 3, including it's Expansion Packs, the 1st 2 Games actually made me want to buy the 3rd Game, & I wasn't Disappointed, I loved it sooo much I played it alot, & wanted to buy another one, but still to this Day, haven't found another one worth it to enjoy. That is my biggest Disappointment, is that there hasn't been a Game since as well Designed as the 1st 3 Heroes Of Might & Magic Games, & sadly enough the Games just don't compare to Today's Games anymore. The Overall Visuals & Gameplay just don't work well on Today's Technology anymore. I Gave The Game 5 Stars for how great I enjoyed it, but we really need a ReMastered Game in 4K, or at least a New one with at least 1080P Visuals to work on our Computers Today so that we can continue enjoying the Games more. The title says it all. There's no game that kept me playing for so long and stay fun. Mods, especially HotA, keep the game fresh and better than ever. I probably don't have to recommend it to anybody reading the reviews, but you haven't play this game yet then do it and it will probably be one of the best games you'll ever experience.

Unfortunately, when the base game and the two expansions were compressed into the 'Complete' edition, some corners were cut. The high quality campaign videos of the original were compressed, the first expansion's opening video is completely missing, as are all the opening screens and icons, replaced by the complete edition ones. These are the minor details that are still annoying somewhat. The biggest issue is that one of the campaign maps is bugged, making the final map of that campaign significantly harder in a way that is also dissatisfying. (you are not getting a multi-map quest reward). This is for sure the easiest version to get, but if you can somehow get the originals, I recommend that above this one.

This game is a gem from my childhood. I may be biased since I used to play this as a kid, when my dad was still alive. I get fond memories when I play it, especially the Tatalian Wars. I still remember those summer days, in my bedroom, with him around the house watching tv in the other room, checking on me and telling me to go outside and play instead. The game still plays nice and the graphics are just perfect the way they are. The HD packs and all that modern stuff seem to make it less like the game I remember and more like something else. Therefore, I just play it with the standard looks. I finished playing through the campaigns last year and had a fun time. Such a beautiful game. I never play the multiplayer since I'm not a pro player. But, the campaigns are great, the single maps are also plenty to kee you busy for a very very long time. The only things I found annoying are: - the Armageddon Blade campaign is not editable and you have to manually edit the campaign with a special editor to enable difficulty levels; - some text is written wth some mistakes but that is not game breaking. This game is a gem. I heard people call it "dynamic chess". It is. No individual game is the same. It has so many variations that make not boring. The art style is so pretty. The music is so very good. The ambiance and effects are very well done. While it is not a modern game, it is a beautiful old masterpiece. And a game I will always hold dear.
