grr...doesn't work
I'm running a brand new computer with Win8 and this won't run. Can we anticipate a fix for this soon???

doesnt work
it doesnt work on windows 11. from what I have heard it doesnt work on windows 10 either, Unless you want to jump through 6 hoops are know what you are doing id just play homeworld.

Good RTS, bad space game
I adore Homeworld, and games like Nexus are also on my short list of favorites, so when I saw the GOG community's enthusiasm for Hegemonia I was eager to try it out. The gameplay is fine and enjoyable, but to put it simply, I cannot handle seeing Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars on the screen at the same time in what is supposed to be an actual view of actual space. I made it to mission 2, where it looked like Jupiter, Saturn, and their respective moons were going to collapse into each other at any second, before I had to give up. Given all the excellent games that get the scale of space right - Homeworld, Nexus, Independence War, just to name a few - I don't feel like there's much excuse for the games that get it wrong. The enormous scale is part of the wonder and joy of flying and fighting in space. (I hated Freelancer for this same reason, along with its horrible flight model.) As I was playing this game, it really just made me want to play Nexus and Homeworld again. Even Conquest: Frontier Wars would be preferable in terms of simple verisimilitude.
