Not quite there

Gameplay loop isn't fun after 2 hours. A sequel could address the issues, but from the ground-up. The only invalid criticism people make here is with the story. It's a roguelike designed for replayability and doing lots of runs over time... so a story doesn't help with that in the long-term, it was never aiming to be the follow-up of Thronebreaker, rather it was supposed to be something of its own.

A mediocre game of Gwent meets StS

There's too much story for you to just ignore it, and yet too little of it for you to care about it or invest time in it. There are too few mechanics akin to Slay the Spire - treasures you find are uninspired, at best, question marks don't yield many interesting surprisies, the fights take significantly longer than StS and there's too much fighting in general. The game is also significantly worse than multiplayer version of Gwent (which is a fantastic card game, go check it out if you haven't played it yet!). The gameplay is slow-paced - you can't speed up the animations like you could in StS. Coupled with the fact that the main gameplay loop grows stale very quickly resulted in me getting bored of the game after a couple hours.

not fun in the long run

it's interesting for a couple hours, but as soon as you complete a enough runs to advance, you realise that the game has basically nothing to offer beyond its initial premise. everything is random and you autopilot your deck until you either win or lose by chance. go play competitive gwent or thronebreaker instead :(

Not a Gwent Game

This is not a Gwent game. Just one round per battle, not best of three. It loses the key point of Gwent. What's more, you can win easily if you get some decent cards. If you only get low-powered cards, you will lose easily, even if you are a master card player. The design of the boss is ridiculous, which prevent players' imagination. You can only use some specific card to win the game. Otherwise, you cannot win because most other cards are countered heavily.

You can do better CDPR

They have had discovered a awesome tipe of game with Thronebreaker, it has awesome story, fun game, interaction with the deck, awesome art and then they go ahead and create this game wich is a bad copy of slay the spyre, i bought it because CD PR never had failed me, i love every other game they've made, but im dissapointed with this one. I hope CD PR makes pach to verify all the bugs and to improve the experience of the player in this Rogue Mage game, maybe with a little twicks here and there they make it a fun game.
