When life robs Colton White of all that matters, the only thing left he can trust is his GUN. From award-winning developer, Neversoft, and accomplished screenwriter, Randall Jahnson (The Mask of Zorro, The Doors), GUN follows Colton on his quest for discovery as he seeks to exact vengeful justice on those who have wronged him. GUN is a realistic epic action/adventure that lets gamers experience the brutality of the lawless West.
New and savage ways to punish: Stealthily sneak up and attack your enemies, use them as cover, stab and shoot them. Blast away and watch the aftermath, shoot guns out of enemy hands, or destroy with dynamite.
Extensive variety of missions and game play: Wage war on horseback, commandeer trains, protect prostitutes, collect bounties, play poker, hunt buffalo, and more. Multiple game play styles include: precision shooting, stealth tactics, and use of explosives. Embark on numerous side missions that allow you to master gun slinging and horse riding. Unlock secret weapons and upgrade your skills and abilities to improve your weapon and equipment performance.
Brutal realism: Act as a gunslinger protecting righteousness, or seek retribution as you face corrupt lawmen, warring tribes, cold-blooded outlaws, and ruthless renegades. Encounter legendary gunfighters such as JJ Webb. Employ a multitude of authentic weapons including: Six shooters, shotguns, Gatling guns, flaming arrows, hatchets, dynamite, and more.
Expansive interactive world: Play an extensive variety of exciting missions as you journey west across the new frontier. Ride on horseback through the scenic, yet dangerous Western terrain of canyons, mountains, plains, forests, gold mines and towns.
If you always wanted to play Red Dead Redemption but couldn't because you didn't have a console, this is the closest thing to it available for PC. The GTA 3 to GTA V of open world western (wild west) genre.
Not the same, more like a poor second cousin, but still fun.
Third person perspective works well. The shooting mechanics are good and accurate.
The controls in general are at the very least acceptable, up to great, depending on what you are doing.
The graphics though solid did age quickly as most 3D games released in the mid 00s. Nothing wrong with them from technical point, just don't expect a 2016 looking game.
There is plenty of traveling/riding, random and not so random encounters.
Side missions and story missions are all there.
If what you see from the screenshots look good to you, then chances are you will be satisfied with the game.
This is not RDR, but this is a solid game on its own right.
If you like the setting, this is worth buying.
This was on of the first Games on the XBOX 360.
In fact, it is a small version of Red Dead Redemption. Nice little open world game, graphics are ok and aged well. It is definitely worth your time.
BUT: what about that price? 20$????? Thats way to much.
This is actually a really short game. You can play trough it in one day and then it will sit on the shelf for a long while. I would grab it for 5$ ASAP but not for 20.

I love this game but...
This game is really great, but charging £13.89 for it is absolutely insane. Lower the price guys, you'll make more money in the long run trust me :)
I have a soft spot in my heart for this game so this review is probably a tad biased. Having played and loved Outlaws way back in the day, I'd been waiting years for another good western video game and along came GUN. I bought it and gave it a shot despite reading the (mostly) negative reviews.
It's not fantastic. It's not amazing. It's not even overly large for an open world game. In fact, most of the in-game missions have you walk across the street to complete them, and the one long journey mission towards the beginning of the game where you 'open up the rest of the map' has you leaving one town and running this long circuitous gauntlet of enemies, finally making it to the far town. After you complete that, you learn that the two towns are almost next door to each other and there's literally a straight shot path between the two that takes about 30 seconds to cross.
What GUN is, is... fun. I enjoyed the slow-mo quick draw mechanic. I enjoyed the gambling for money to buy upgrades and weapons. I enjoyed the upgrades and the weapons because they definitely made a difference to the gameplay. The story was somewhat derivative but serviceable. The characters were somewhat archetypical but passable.
I just mostly enjoyed the western setting. The graphics at the time did it justice and it was nice to ride around on horses through canyons, fields, and streams. Given the nature of the story I entered it feeling like the music should be Man with No Name Ennio Morricone but instead found it was Dances With Wolves John Barry, but even that I eventually came to accept as fitting for the game's atmosphere.
In all, given the extreme dearth of the Western Genre in video games, there was enough going on in GUN to provide a fun, engaging experience. I've since gone back and played it twice more, and have started it up and just ridden around on numerous occasions. For some reason I could never get into Red Dead Redemption. Just not a console person I guess. If they ever came out with a GUN2 I would buy it in a heartbeat, but clearly this will not happen. Here's hoping RDR2 is more engaging for me than the first one. Till then, I'm going to buy this, download it, and ride around the west some more.
Gun is a lot of fun, but you're probably going to blow through it in one or two sittings.
It has an entertaining story, the gameplay, especially the gunplay, is very solid. The map is small but has a few towns with enough people to keep them entertaining while you work through the story.
I enjoyed Gun, I had it for the PS2 and I have it now through Steam, but I can't recommend an 11 year old game for $20.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
