Good game, awful bugs
Completely broken game. Kind of embarrassing and makes it hard to enjoy the experience. Be warned! Not many reviews make it clear just how badly this game is bugged. You'll get game ending bugs CONSTANTLY. It's unaccetable that it released like this.

Dark, Depressing, Bland...
I can kinda understand why this game wasn't a big hit when it first released. It is a massive departure from traditional LucasArts games. The world of Grim Fandango is a dark, depressing, and bland one. I honestly got to the second half of the game and didn't want to go any further. A world full of skeletons and the occasional odd character... just isn't as interesting as a world of pirates or a pair of buddy cops. The setting, the tone, the characters... it all just seems like a bad choice. The humor is very hit and miss too. Overall, not my kind of Adventure game.

1/5 as a game but other parts saves it
As a game it's very disappointing. Much of the time boring and annoying. The optional things, like running around and talking to other characters etc is great but progressing in the game is often a hassle. I tried my best to start liking it but couldn't. Too many puzzles that makes no sense at all. Try every item on every character kind of puzzles. Then eventually I decided to start using a guide. I didn't want to keep playing but I wanted to know the end of the story, hear more of the dialogue etc. Whenever I didn't progress as fast as I felt like, I'd just check a guide. It's not like solving the puzzles is any rewarding anyway. Hang a wet cloth on some hanger, bottle some dirty water and give it to some random guy, god knows. Some of the worst puzzles I've encountered. I prefer difficult puzzles to just randomly trying everything everywhere. It's a shame! The game could have been great. I'd recommend it but don't waste too much of your time. Better played with a guide ready.

No Sound!
I was really looking forward to playing this game again after many years in the abyss only to find that the game has no sound. This makes this classic totally unplayable, especially considering the price paid! I am running an early 2014 iMac and am very dissapointed that a game that claims to be mac friendly is not.
