Stars are for the expansion
the reason i give this three stars is for the expansion. I am going to be very clear about this. The expansion SUCKS! as for the main freespace campaign, its good but not as good as Freespace 2. The last level is a bit over the top in my opinion and the difficulty was too high on normal ( i dont like playing on easy). So i give the main campaign a 4/5 while i give the expansion a -4.5 out of 5 (notice the negative symbol). For 6 dollars this game is definitely worth it.

Fun but not quite there
Its hard to write a negative review for any game, easier is to highlight good points or bash any errors... The focus of the game is in the fighter vs fighter arena, there is practially only ONE fight between capital ships, this translates into a big flaw... No EPIC battles: If you ever played TIE Fighter, you will know what it means to fight between three or four capital ships firing each other. Plus the story is kind of cheesy.

Game doesnt launch
This was a very fun game back in the day. However, I cant get it to launch on windows 10 and its too much trouble to try to research and figure it out. Easier to move on to other games. If you are a casual buyer I would recommend giving it a pass simply because of compatibility issues.

Descent ??
I buy this game because I just finish all the other descents. The descent name on it make me buy it. But there nothing like descent. The game is very good and battles are intense. The expansion is ok but the last mission is shit. The story is very interesting. I will buy the two to continue the story.
