Not worth your time unless for nostalgy
The game plays well with modern displays and has no technical issues. However the gameplay has aged badly and the difficulty curve is a roller coaster: - Most of the game can be done in one sitting, save for few maps that will take all of your patience.

Can't load First level past the intro.
So I played through the intro just fine. When I get to the "base" it says to go to the map and press E in order to go to a location. And that's as far as I get. I think it's a resolution problem. I checked the games message board. There is a solution. But it looks to be way more crap than I am willing to deal with. Shame too. This looked like it would have been fun. Big fat NOPE from me.

amazing. we need offline skimrish back..
even if its single player offline. i loved playing the local skimrish as soviets :) also we need a rematered or FF3! :D

Linux Review
Runs perfectly in Wine, no "winetricks", tweaks or adjustments needed. Make a prefix, install and play at 60FPS with smooth controls. I played this when it was originally released on PS2 back in the day. Visually it has aged quite poorly due to technical limitations of the time - maps are tiny, textures are blurry and you'll see NPC models repeating themselves quite a lot. It was that awkward period where 3D was improving, but the hardware wasn't *quite* there yet. If you look past the dated visuals, the gameplay unfortunately has aged equally badly: - Your character automatically reloads his weapon a few seconds after you've stopped shooting -- and it's always at the worst possible time. I have no idea why this is even a thing. Why couldn't they have just used a reload key like every other shooter? - The difficulty settings only make the enemies into bullet sponges and deal more damage to you. That's it. - Your character has terrible accuracy firing from the hip and while aiming, but the AI doesn't seem to have this problem. - The FOV is incredibly tight, especially when aiming. The camera is often way too close, which is exponentially worse on indoor maps/missions. - Aiming offers zero accuracy bonus whatsoever. The low FOV actually makes it arguably worse than hip-firing as enemies seem way too close. - The fun multiplayer mode from the console versions is not present in the PC port. That's just off the top of my head, but GoG reviews only have a 2,000 character limit. This game is absolutely not worth the outrageous $14.99 USD asking price unless you have a really good pair of nostalgia goggles to play it with. Jesper Kyd's soundtrack is great and still holds up today, but the rest of this game is forgettable.
