A great game ruined by bad decisions
The game is essentially a turn-based city-building strategy game, similar to the Total War series. The combat system takes some getting used to, otherwise the game shines at this point. Pleasant graphics and music with small historical inserts - for me a 5 star game. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough for the manufacturer and they had to improve this well-done game title with some "brilliant additions". Decadence In order to ruin the gameplay of the actual core game, a system of culture and decadence was introduced. With aging markers and progress markers and a worldwide ranking. That sounds pretty funny at first glance. In practice, it means that you can only grow very slowly. And that both in terms of area and population. Rapid population growth breaks down loyalty in the provinces and automatically spawns decadence each turn. When you have more decadence than culture, a downward spiral begins. Construction Now you could say: "Then just build the right buildings!". That's correct. But as a further fun brake, the design decision was made that you cannot build buildings freely, but are offered random buildings. I think that's even worse than the stupid decadence. And if you focus fully on culture and anti-decadence buildings, you run into problems with money and infrastructure. If you just want a traditional building strategy game, you will most likely be disappointed here. If you enjoy the permanent micromanagement of the population, you should definitely strike here. For me personally, a fantastic building strategy game was ruined by these game design choices. I will not give the game a third chance.
