Did you ever want to reroute power to the shields, set phasers to stun,
or even eject the warp core? Well, now you can! In FTL, you experience the
atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a
dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with
multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down
your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape,
power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the
fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation
roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure
through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.
FTL's complex strategic gameplay allows you to give orders to your crew,
manage ship power distribution, and choose weapon targets in the heat of
battle. You will encounter unique alien lifeforms and technology. You can
upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien
races. Be the Captain you want: hundreds of text based encounters will
force you to make tough decisions. In the randomized galaxy each
play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your
decisions. Each time you play another challenging session of FTL:Faster Than Light, it won't be quite the same.

Quick play sessions (from 5 to about 90 minutes) will allow you to add that spaceship commander feeling to any of your days.
This game looks cool, with a bit of 8-bit flavour to it, but not too much.
The sounds are good, the music is good.
It plays way it plays is easy, the game itself is quite hard.
Only some controls are annoying, such as handling the doors to open and close them, but that's already nitpicking.
This is a fresh look on this sort of rogue like games, almost revolutionary.
If they add just more diversity to everything, and make it a little easier, or add a difficulty option, and have it last a litle longer, possible endless, this would be epic.
A fantastic game indeed, I had heard plenty of positives from the internet.
My only complaint: No multiplayer and WHERE is the mobile version of this game?! It would be perfect for my Samsung Galaxy Note 3!

I'm surprised at how much I like (and am addicted to) this game. When FTL first came out I looked into it but was turned off by the screenshots... at the time it seemed to me that constantly looking at your spaceship from one viewpoint would get boring quickly. But the game kept gaining popularity and attention so I kept it on the radar. Eventually I decided to look more into the gameplay aspects and found out that it had some interesting elements: many ship upgrades/unlocks, random events, limited time in each zone, and a repeatable end goal (destroying the enemy flagship). I picked it up when it went on sale and ever since I have been hooked.
Being a fanatic of the Master of Orion 2 game, I decided to give this little baby a try. And, discovered this Sci-Fi ship to ship battle gem!
Although the graphics and gameplay are simple, the game's AI strategy challenges your intellect and the randomized exploration events are most entertaining. I still enjoy playing this three hour game over and over again.
Yes, I definitely recommend this game. FTL reinvigorated my interest in Indie video games.
worst "one more try" syndrome ever. I just had to make one more jump, one more fight, one more starting over cause my ship was reduced to scrap. Before i decided it was time to sleep, i already had to wake up. Before this game, i didnt even like indie games at all! You ccommand a ship and its crew, and try your best in surviving until you reach your destination. Lots of fighting and planning. Different types of guns, many races with different characteristics, and different ships relying on different playstyle. Buy this game, it's worth it.
