Opis
FTL: Advanced Edition features:
- New systems, playable ships, alien race, weapons, drones, and more!
- A new sector with new events, written by Tom Jubert and special guest writer Chris Avellone!
- New music by Ben Prunty!

Did you ever want to reroute power to the shields, set phasers to stun, or even eject the warp core? Well, now you can! In FTL, you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

FTL's complex strategic gameplay allows you to give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution, and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle. You will encounter unique alien lifeforms and technology. You can upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien races. Be the Captain you want: hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions. In the randomized galaxy each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. Each time you play another challenging session of FTL:Faster Than Light, it won't be quite the same.
  • Unlimited adventures in the vast depths of unpredictable space.
  • A new randomized galaxy to explore each time you start a new game.
  • Quick play sessions (from 5 to about 90 minutes) will allow you to add that spaceship commander feeling to any of your days.

Roguelike covering with a creamy strategy center

To be honest, I don't really like roguelikes. I've played several (although not the original) and they've never particularly grabbed my attention for very long. But for whatever reason, I still decided to back this on kickstarter, and when I actually got my hands on it several months later I was blown away (figuratively and literally, as I was blown up almost immediately after starting). While people call it a roguelike, I really like the 'strategy' label on it better. It has roguelike elements to be sure, but those are really more in the game mechanics (randomized galaxies, permadeath, etc.), the actual gameplay is definitely in the strategy category more than anything else. You command a ship with a crew, and you need to make liberal use of the pause feature to balance where your crew is (to either manage work stations to speed up shield regeneration, weapon reloading or whatnot, do repair work, or even fight invaders teleporting onto your ship), timing your weapons and other ship functions (as you may need to fire one weapon RIGHT before the other to slip through the enemy shields, or hit the cloak button JUST after the enemy fires their missiles so they'll fly passed you), or in more dire situations, hit the FTL jump button a moment away from your ship becoming scrap for your enemy to collect. This game is hard. Even once you get used to the controls, even if you play on easy difficulty, you're often going to run into situations that will simply screw you over. I once played a game where I was in a Mantis cruiser (which has no weapons, depending on you teleporting over to the enemy ship to kill them in hand-to-hand combat) and I immediately ran into a Zoltan ship, which has a super shield that you can't teleport through without disabling it (which you can't do without shooting it). They then blew out my engines and quickly shot me into scrap. And this will happen to you, I guarantee it. Maybe not often, but it WILL happen. The random enemy generator will just screw you over at times, and you will die. So, I say again, this game is hard. I've played almost a hundred games and I've only beaten it ten times or so. (Granted, a lot of the time I just restarted because the galaxy didn't generate sectors like I wanted, but the point remains that I've died a lot.) Regardless, I really like this game. I like the feeling of coming out of a battle without a scratch because I timed all my weapons perfectly, disabling all of their systems before they even got a shot off on me. I like the feeling of immediately teleporting my attack crew onto the enemy ship, ripping a bloody path through them, and then reaping the spoils of victory from an untouched ship. I like the feeling of pulling a win from the skin of my teeth and then coming back for more just moments later (after I scrape my scrap bucket back into a ship with a quick repair stop). I like the feeling of reaching each achievement, especially the ones that unlock new ships or ship layouts since it expands the way the game can be played. I don't particularly like being blown to smithereens, but I don't mind it terribly because win or lose you still start with a fresh crew, and maybe THIS time I won't run into that freaking Zoltan ship right off the bat... If any of this sounds like it might be fun for you, do check FTL out. Even if you're not a fan of roguelikes, if you like strategy games, FTL might just tickle your fancy.

An addictive game

If you like rogue-likes then try one set in space. Put together a crew and level them up, level up your ship too. Shields, engines, o2 generators, weapons etc. That is if you survive long enough. Alien ships attack you on the way to your objective, causing mayhem, killing crew and sometimes boarding your ship. Random events keep things interesting and there is a great soundtrack here for your listening pleasure. Worth a buy!

Star Wars, Firefly and Star Trek in one!

It's everyone's dream (commanding a beat up space ship, keeping it running with a small crew as you schlep across the galaxy) and FTL gives it to you in a way no video game has done before. Instead of flying about with a joystick, in FTL you really do command the ship. Order your crew about, engage in combat, and make increasingly-tough decisions in a spectacular game that'll make you want to come back again and again for more. If you aren't on the edge of your seat within minutes (every time you play) then you're probably playing a different game.

A fantastically addictive game!

I've been playing the beta of FTL for the last week or so, and I'm absolutely loving it! Don't let the simplistic graphics turn you away: there is a deepness to this equal to many strategy games. As the commander of a lone starship, you have to balance power levels, patch up any holes in your ship and generally keep your crew alive as you run like the wind from a constantly advancing enemy fleet. Gameplay comes in the form of 'jumps' - nodes on a map that generate a random event when you move to them. It could be a shop, an ambush, or nothing but a few rusted bits of metal floating past. One of the best things about FTL is the sense of tension. There is never quite enough resources to do anything - do you have to keep the oxygen system online, or is it worth forcing the crew to hold their breath for a few minutes in order to power up the missile launcher for one last shot? Any sometimes the only course of action is to run, and hope against hope that your fuel will last until you're out of danger! Well worth the purchase!

Hard beyond being fun

I enjoy a challenge, but after countless games, I've only beaten the game on easy once, and it involved more luck than skill. The game itself is loads of fun. The battle system is great, but you really have to pause it every few seconds or you'll be losing crewmen left and right. I also love all the ship upgrades and random events. The problem for me is that it was just too hard to enjoy. If an average gamer can't beat it on easy, the devs don't know what "easy" is supposed to mean. Normal difficulty is just brutal. It seems to me the strategy is more figuring out how to unlock better ships than actually playing the game, and most of the ship unlocks are luck-based (you of course have to know the secret choices to make once you get lucky enough to encounter a ship unlocking event). All in all it's probably worth the price, as it is fun and inexpensive. Just know you are in for a world of pain.
