Better than many new shooters!

Amazing, even in 2024! I'm halfway through (I remember the last part sucks more or less) and I've had soooo much fun! The graphics really hold up, even if the HDR is kinda overdone. The voice acting and sounds are great, and the dialogue are very funny/ironic/cheesy. Very good tension sneaking around in the dense jungles! The AI beats the crap out of most modern shooters - they retreat to find cover, they flank you, they call for backup, and they don't always know where you are. You can try to fool them by throwing rocks, or sneak to another location. VERY sandboxy and fun! Also great physics on many objects - probably more/better physics than most newer games! Definitly not Crysis-level though! I installed the widescreen mod, which fixes what it should as well as some other minor things. Also add "\r_hdrrendering 1" and "\r_fsaa 0" to get HDR, and something else to get better viewdistance (google it!). Had some crashes that lock pc so I had to log-out, but it's a real old game so...

Best Far Cry of the series!

Still my favorite Far Cry game, althought FC 3 and 4 come close... They should release a modern remake!

A truly masterpiece!

Not much to say..You have to play this game at least once in your life.. It is simply awesome..only a couple of things may have been better imo..The save system..you can't save when you want..there are checkpoints through the game..this isn't a big problem since they give you aplenty of them..but could become annoying when you don't know where to go or what to do (but there are video walktrough on YT, if you find yourself lost)..second..some fightings really are unfair..c'mon guys..how doyou face helicopters, armored cars and boats without a serious weponry?..Good luck if you're playng on the highest difficulty levels..

A stunning achievement

Awesome graphics, great gameplay, smooth gunplay, wide open environments, deep sound, excellent AI, and a long campaign make Far Cry the best shooter on GOG.com, aside from the Unreal series.

Very good graphics

I am using GeFore 7900GS and Core2Duo 6550. Last week I downloaded the demo version of Far Cry. In that version only the lowest graphic quality is available, but it already stuns my eyes. So I decided to buy this game. In the full version, I can set the graphic quality to "Very High", and it is really amazing. I also bought DOOM 3 some years ago, but I can play it only with medium quality. I would recommand this game if your hardware if you like first-person-shooting game.
