Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

Quite simply, this is the sequel to Fallout 3 that everyone hoped for. Even, if they didn't know they were hoping for it. The game is almost good enough to get just for the Caravan card game that you can play with various individuals through the wasteland. On sale, I would say it's definitely worth it just for that. Moving on, this game has some of the most interesting and fun storylines in the entire Fallout Series. To me, it was a classic, when it was released. They took everything the learned from Fallout 3 and just made it better. Also, GOG somehow getting these games here, is why I love GOG. GOG + one of the best sandbox adventures of all time = Stupid amounts of fun.

This is a rare 5 star game. You start off after being shot in the head and robbed basically, from there you decide what happens. you have many gangs and factions and 4 main factions you can choose to side with (one of those is You/Yes Man) you can explore the waste and look for old tech. Speak with people and help out . The quests are varied and interesting. The world is vivid and interesting and never boring.

After managing to finish it on 100% I have a few words to say. Overall the game isn't bad in terms of equipment, variety of weapons, armor and such, compared to Fallout 3 which didn't have as many guns and most of them were pretty crappy ( why carry a 32./chinese pistol when you can finish the game with 10mm right ? ). The story is good, you're a Courier who had a bad luck and you're on a path to setting things right. The things you do somewhat affect people around you, how they see you, etc. Only thing that bothered me were crashes, which were kinda often, unexpected and sometimes made me almost uninstall the game. Second goes straight to Obsidian, they should make Caesar's Legion quest line a lot longer, not just a few quests when you're close to finishing the game. If there's anyone who didn't actually played the game, go for it. It certainly is worth to play, especially with DLC's ( Lonesome Road ftw!)

New Vegas is a well written game with lots of interesting sidequests, factions, groups, twists, etc - but most importantly it has plenty of room for fascinating and meaningful roleplaying. On one hand it suffers from technical issues (the bugs and crashes everyone talks about), but my personal problem is the boring, sometimes even horrible level design I've seen in other Obsidian games too (especially in KOTOR2). Don't get me wrong, the different locations they came up with are awesome, but the actual layout of the maps are sometimes insultingly nonsensical and occasionally even weirdly empty. Pointless rooms after pointless rooms combined with unreasonably huge spaces. But I get if this sounds nitpicky for some players, and understand this should in theory add to the apocalyptic scenery. For me it often doesn't. Other than that, I'd say NV is an intriguing gem, you should check out if you have a soft spot for RPGs with well written stories.

This game is very buggy and you should be aware of that. There is a mod available that prevents the save files corruption, which is only one of the many issues of F:NV. However, this game deserves the legendary status it got. The unique blend of post-apocalyptic and western atmosphere, interesting and flashed out characters, numerous side quests and mysteries that paint the picture of the world... Getting into this game is not difficult. The hard part is to let go.
