Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

This game was massively gimped on release, it was built on a really bad game engine and had a very short development cycle. On a technical level, this game is a disaster. Having said that, the story and gameplay (as flawed as the gameplay is), are so incredibly memorable. This is RARE for even a lot of new games to be this memorable, this game is a game I just finished replaying after 7 years of not replaying, I was surprised that I still remembered about 90% of the game. That is how much this game stuck with me, the factions, the weapons, the world building, the companions, the hilarious NPCs like Oliver Swanick and Fantastic, the DLC, there are too many amazing things to write home about this game. This game alongside the original 2 Fallout's, have crafted a world that captures your imagination in ways that few games including the following Fallouts fail to do. I would encourage playing Vanilla 1st time, if you are going to add mods, just add mods that fix bugs, improve performance, and very safe texture mods such as Ojo Bueno and so on.

I played this game straight after playing fallout 3 and i cant get enough of it. am on my 8th playthrough and i still find more things i want to do in the mojave. for a game that took around 18 months it has the most compelling story in the whole franchise{sierra madre is hard as hell but that adds to the immersion}. also the addition of new mechanics like different bullet types ,gun mods ,crafting and new recepies blew my mind.

Fallout New Vegas is my favorite RPG of all time. I love exploring New Vegas, the soundtrack is incredible (and not just a retread of Fallout 3, looking at you Fallout 4). There's something incredible about walking through the wastes where everyone is a potential enemy or friend with your trusty companion(s) or alone while Billie Holiday sings that I just can't forget. It feels like a lived in world that isn't driven solely by murder but people trying to survive in a harsh future.

I love New Vegas because it is an extremely well done role-playing game on so many levels with great characters, progression, quests and locations. At the same time I absolutely hate how much of a technical mess it can be, even after installing some of the essential stability and bug fixing mods. Especially endless loading screens happen far too often.

New Vegas is definitely the best 3D Fallout game, and one of my favorite games of all time. Still, it's not flawless. The gunplay is janky, travelling without fast travel is boring and tedious, and the graphics and animations were outdated even on release. Oh, and the game is unstable as hell, there are a ton of bugs. But New Vegas has the guts to be amazing in spite of all this. The narrative is the backbone of the whole experience. The world and its people are written super well, and you'll get lost for hours in the stories they've got for you. The range it offers you go from generic action pieces (which fall a bit flat due to the janky gameplay) to political intrigue to hilarious black comedy and satire of our real world. A nuclear apocalypse happened 200 years ago, and society has more or less rebuilt itself. You are put into a very special position, where you get to choose the direction where it grows. This is why I think New Vegas is an interesting post-apocalyptic story: it doesn't dwell on the apocalypse too much, but instead asks how we can move on from it. While the action elements of this action RPG are more than lacking, the RPG elements more than make up for them. You really can make any kind of character you want, and the game has unique reactions to nearly every character type. Each narrative element is very interactive, and you can change almost every storyline to fit the story you want to tell. I think playing New Vegas can be compared to making and telling a story to yourself. It's really hard to break the narrative in any way, because the developers have really accounted for nearly everything you can do at any moment of any quest. If you can get past the awkward gun fights, the outdated visuals, and all the bugs the game has, this is going to be one of the best action RPG experiences you'll find. Highly recommend. And this game has a huge and active modding community, so you can always try to mod the flaws away. Do yourself a favor and try it.
