This was, for me, maybe one of 5 or 6 titles that still required me to have Steam installed. Now that it is here, I have alot less reason to have two launchers. It's probably not a coincidence this comes two weeks before Starfield is released. Since Fallout 4 will no longer be the most recent Bethesda open world title, it makes perfect sense for them to finally allow it here. In the end, my rating isn't even so much for the game as having the full single-player Elder Scrolls/Fallout experience in one place DRM-free.
It took a lot of heat over the years and although it may not be as good as new Vegas but fallout 4 is still an excellent RPG in it’s own right the graphics still hold up today the voiced protagonist while often criticized I thought was a great addition and the settlement building is really well done But where this game really shines is the mods there’s so many mods available you can really customize fallout 4 to your hearts content with additional maps companions weapons and much more
This DRM free version from GOG is great yes there’s no creation club or built in mod store but this is DRM free for a reason just go to nexus mods they are free and safe to use and have their own mod manager and have a way better selection of mods than the bethesda mod store and all of my nexus mods work great on this version and my steam saves work flawless too Awesome work GOG

If you want to play this game without Bethesda's chicanary, and you don't feel like jumping through hoops and hacks in order to avoid unwanted (and unneeded) updates, this is THE WAY to go.
All things considered, it is utterly beyond me that more people haven't switched wholesale to GOG from Steam, ESPECIALLY where Bethesda games are concerned.
I'm currently running it with over 400 mods, and, for me, at least, it is extremely stable.
If you do decide to buy this, even if you'd prefer to stick with vanilla, I heavily recommend that you at least get:
* The Unofficial Patch (IMPORTANT NOTE: If the Anniversary Edition eventually makes it over to GOG, 100% guaranteed, Arthmoor & co. will yank the 1.10.163 version of the patch the moment that the new game version goes live, so be sure you keep backups)
* Buffout 4 (plus its requirements)
* The High FPS Physics Fix (plus its requirements)
Make sure you grab those versions specific to 1.10.163/GOG.
Most of the negative reviews on here I agree with. This is easily the worst story and RPG Bethesda's ever put out. The fans (myself included) are right to be disappointed, especially as the first Fallout game I completed was Fallout: New Vegas.
I'll start with the positives to get them out of the way - Fallout 4 has my favorite combat mechanics of any Bethesda game. Enemies actually take cover (gasp!) and throw grenades. Guns have some decent sound design and animations. In addition, I really like the crafting system they've implemented. And despite the jank, I really love the settlement-building mechanic. Creating towns in a first-person, post-apocalyptic environment is one of the things I've done to relax after getting home from work.
While I never liked Fallout 3's main story, Bethesda's previous entry at least had a handful of meaningful role-playing opportunities. Due to having a voiced protagonist in this game, Bethesda limited themselves to perhaps the worst BioWare-esque dialogue wheel I've ever seen. The player seemingly has four choices, but in most cases conversations railroad you into one singular choice.
Side missions, especially the radiant quests, are almost always bland and uninteresting. The "looter shooter" portion is only engaging if you're a weirdo like me, who actually enjoys using junk to build your ramshackle settlements. And despite how Todd Howard advertised it, the settlement-building mechanic is required to progress through the main story.
While it fails to do anything great in one category, these disparate elements - looting and shooting, settlement building, crafting, and roleplaying - all come together for an engaging experience. Just understand what you're getting yourself into. This is not a true successor to New Vegas or even 3. It feels as much of a spinoff as Fallout 76. Which is a shame - especially considering there won't be another mainline entry in a decade or so.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
