Originally released in 2005, Fahrenheit (known as Indigo Prophecy in North America) was a breakthrough in interactive narrative, teetering between the worlds of cinema and gaming while also embracing them, carving its own unique genre in the entertainment landscape. This newly remastered edition features updated graphics, controller support AND is based on the uncut/uncensored international version of the game.
With a rich multilayered narrative, innovative presentation, and a chilling musical score by famed Hollywood composer Angelo Badalamenti, Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered serves as the definitive version of the supernatural murder mystery and (re)introduces the groundbreaking title to old and new fans alike.
Features:
Interactive Drama — An intuitive control scheme and spectacular split-screen presentation complement the game's mysterious noir narrative.
Extensive Replayability — With branching dialog and multiple endings, each playthrough of the game yields a different outcome.
Multiple Characters — Take control of the narrative through four different playable characters, each illuminating a different perspective of the story.
Fully Voiced Script — Every line from the extensive script is voiced by professional actors in English, French, German, and Spanish.
Cinematic Score — Fahrenheit features a fully orchestrated score composed by Angelo Badalamenti, famous for his extensive work with director David Lynch.
Uncut version of the game — Unlike the original North American release,
Remastered contains all of the game's original scenes, uncensored and uncut.
Key Upgrades:
High-definition Graphics — All of the in-game textures have been meticulously recreated in HD for desktop.
Controller Support — Support for Sony and Microsoft controllers for desktop platforms.
Live Graphics Comparison — Players can switch between the updated visuals and the original art assets by pressing F9
Quantic Dream are amazing at telling unique stories. This game enabled them to write Heavy Rain and Beyond 2 Souls, which I also highly recommend.
If you add the game to non-steam library, you can use steam input to play with a controller.
5/5 stars. I love the main characters. They have their faults, but they are realistic.
Bought this years ago. It's an interesting story, though I haven't gotten terribly far. The controls were not intuitive, and awkward to use, but I did enjoy the movie-like feel, and the ability to see situations from other characters perspectives.
When I got this, I was just using Windows. A few years back I switched to using mostly Linux. The ads for this version and the original say it works with linux... but GOG doesn't have the Linux version. STEAM has the linux version, but I own the game here.
I have played the REMASTERED Windows version Win 7 and 10... it's OK, but doesn't feel that much "redone" so I'm confused.
If you enjoyed the old version and use Windows, I encourage you to get this version. If you're a Linux user, I suggest the Steam version.... until GOG gets the Linux version, too.
- Forced letterbox (and slight pillarbox!)
- Low (and not adjustable FoV)
- Unable to change camera controls
- Insanely floaty camera (with mouse acceleration)
- Uneven textures (some low-res textures still remain)
- Sparse graphical options
- One of the worst controls I have seen (not unplayable, but very frustrating)
- Limited rebind option
Whatever good or bad the game offers is buried under large amount of technical ineptitude. This port is an insult to PC gamers everywhere. Maybe my standards are not sufficiently low (or too high) to enjoy what could be a decent game, but quite frankly I refuse to be subjected to this level of incompetence, with a remaster of a console port no less.
Impressive redo, with mostly good voicing, original camera views, good music, 90's style funky storytelling (split screens, angled perspectives).
I bought the original and was impressed, but lost so much time trying to get past the Quick-Time Events that the media languished in a box somewhere.
Then I stumbled on the remaster, and really enjoyed it again. IIRC, it had the same audio, but uprezzed visuals and the model textures and bump mapping, but I think the polygons were the same LOD. I haven't tried the GOG version, but the one I had was based on downloadable extras that you replace after an original media install (which I still had), and it was completely solid and I began falling in love with it again.
Biggest problem was that after all those years, even with trainers, you still couldn't skip the QTEs altogether. I got to the same part (like psilocybin bugs in a soulless office) and just gave up, again missing 50% of the game. If you can find something to skip the QTEs, it is worth it for some fresh gaming design and an engaging story, even though the uprezzed textures are definitely not enough to avoid looking really dated nowadays.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
