Massive time line and variety of fighting units and unique civilizations across five ages: Middle Ages (950 AD - 1300 AD), Gunpowder (1300 AD - 1600 AD), Imperial (1600 AD - 1900 AD), World War I (1914 AD - 1935 AD), World War II (1935 AD - 1945 AD).
Deep campaigns contribute to a weeks of high replay value. Create your own full campaigns in the campaign/mission editor.

Jack of all trades, master of none
This is a decent game, it is definitely cool to be able to go from medieval era to WW2. The issue is no age feels complete enough, and it really just feels like a rush to get to WW1 and then WW2. Decent game, not as good as other RTS games that cover some of the periods separately

No mouse cursor
The mouse cursor is static (it works, but you won't see it move). This a pretty big problem since this is a RTS game.

Not Bad, Not Great
+Nostalgia factor. +Good ideas with civilization advancement and different country options. +Ability to focus armies on land, sea, or air. -The graphics and variety of voice lines are terrible. -The controls and pathing for troops are slow and janky. -Three fairly forgettable campaigns. -Little to no multiplayer/online viability. -Little desire to replay once finished. Overall: DMW is the little cousin that tries to be multiple games at once: An era game like Total War, and RTS like StarCraft/WarCraft. Unfortunately it falls far short in both categories. It's nice to come back to once in a while for nostalgia or for time-wasting, but there are simply far better options available.
