Empire Earth Gold Edition

Empire Earth was my first ever computer game. I've wanted to revisit it for years and years but the game stopped working on Windows 8 onward. I eventually found it on this site but it still wouldn't work and I gave up on ever playing this game again. But just recently the game popped into my head and I decided "I already own it on GOG. It's been a long time. Why not see if the problem is fixed." And to my absolute delight, it was. I almost cried with happiness when I realized that I could actually play this beloved game again. Thank you for fixing it!

Love this game. Some people have had trouble getting it to work on Windows 10 - this is what you have to do. Go to Game Settings. Under Video Card select your actual graphics card. Then underneath this select Direct3D Hardware Tnl instead of plain Direct3D. Select 1024x768 16 bit display. Then OK. The game will crash to the desktop. That's okay, just start it again - and it will work perfectly. It's worth it if you enjoy real time strategy.

I used to play this game when i was kid. I to be fair i feel like i have played this game my entire childhood. I love this game, it revived my childhood memories. And let me tell u guys i am not disappointed at all. The in-game mechanics is just the way like i used to play earlier. Its pretty childish tough how the units move and attack, since now days we are used to very high graphic and realistic gaming. The civilization path is just great, the technologies allows you to gain a upper hand in the game. The extra bonus and points allowed your units to attack, defend, run faster, build and many more than the enemy. Every civilization architecture is unique. The variety of game maps both scenario and custom maps are awesome. Personally i like play on plains. In all i would suggest any buyer, that it is indeed a great game. If you want to play in depth and want to exp-lore all possibility and outcome of war. If you think you can restore your civilization to its ultimate glory, then this is the game.

I actually was in the open beta test for Empire Earth just before it was released. It's 3d graphics were pioneering in the era of 'Age of Empires'. It also has some unique mechanics like converting citizens into resource bonus producing workers when permanently garrisoned in settlements. It also has an expansive epoch and technology list going from prehistoric times and all the way into the future. I'm surprised how well it works on my modern machine - I've had trouble in the past with the GoG release of this, but my latest install is working flawlessly. If you are an historically based RTS connoisseur, you should try Empire Earth. Multiplayer works on LAN (I haven't tried the direct connection option). There was some third party option to play MP too, but I'm not sure that still works (complaints of malware).

Empire Earth is one of the best classic RTS games that continues to bring back players to this day. This game is better than 2&3 of the series, which should tell you something. The single player stories are fun and well made for a game of its time. But what really shines about this game is the fact it doesnt try to be anything else but what it is, unlike 2&3. You start from cavemen and end in space. The game doesnt just focus on the past, it also makes its own future, giving Russia and Asia a whole new story to play through the Modern, Digital, Nano and Space ages. This also offers the never ending "Skirmish" gameplay, allowing you to start a random map to play against others or AI. Also, this has a map editor that allows you to make your own story, maps, missions, quests, cutscenses and more. This game is a timeless classic and any RTS junkies libary is incomplete without it. For $6, youre missing out not picking it up!
