Aged surprisingly well
The game systems have aged surprisingly well; planning around citizen needs and feng shui is challenging and fun and - in principle - easy to understand. What works less well is the UI though: The game lis limited to miniscule resolutions, and a lot of things you just need to know and/or RTFM.

One of the best games i've played!
Emperor has got you covered as one of the best city builders to date! It holds up extremely well and its super fun to learn :D the soundtrack is beautiful and keeps me extremely relaxed during the roughest of times ( thankyou ancestors, i worship you and you pay me back by flooding my city ) I recommend this game to anyone! its easy to pick up and fun all around FIVE STARS

Timeless classic
I only played this game for the first time in 2024. It still holds up and is a ton of fun to play. The gameplay is great for any city builder fan, and the graphics are not dated at all and really convey the Chinese setting. I was also surprised at the scope of gameplay; not only can you build your own city, but there is a diplomacy/warfare aspect with other cities as well. Highly recommended!
