Amazing throwback shooter.
One of the best throwback shooters out there, Really recommend everyone try it out. Only ran into one bug through my time playing it and it didn't even interfere with the gameplay.

The Quake 2 I've Been Waiting For
DUSK is a magnificent shooter, regardless of your nostalgia with DOOM or Quake. The level design, art style, music... It's all here. I need not reiterate what others have said about it's old school credentials. There's a lot of new and unique things DUSK does too. The crystals of madness can turn a murder room into a snack break. There's no quad damage -- instead DUSK gives you a fire rate power up. Same damage increase, but it has the bonus of turning some of the crummier weapons into P90s. Some levels have water levels rising and falling; the level twisting and turning; non-euclidean geometry. It's been done in video games before, but probably not in a DOOM clone. Sometimes the throwback is like a Vietnam flashback though. The key hunting is has been a problem with these games since DOOM. Although the level design is mostly straightforward, there are absolutely levels where you just looking for the fucking red door and it's nowhere to be found. There's also the problem with weapon upgrades. There's very little reason to go back to the double shotguns after you get the super shotgun. The single pistol is maybe used to kill one enemy before you get another. Why even have the gimped gun in the game? Just start me off with the good one and put more enemies in the level. I thought there wasn't supposed to be any hand-holding. There's a few nitpicks too. The inclusion of the climbing powerup is awkward and slows down the gameplay for little gain. The Superhot powerup was completely a "wouldn't it be cool if we" thought that doesn't fit DUSK at all. Again: it slows the game down so you can avoid like, 3 damage shot of your 200 hp total. Lastly I found the bosses to be well designed visually, but none changed the gameplay. They're just bullet sponges you have to circle-strafe around. Yawn. I promise I love this game. It isn't perfect, but it sure as shit is worth your time. If you have any love for the shooter, you owe it to yourself to pick up DUSK.

Honestly a good game
Smooth controls, nice feeling weapons, looks good for its pixelated artstyle, runs well, good audio design. You will know if you like it just from some screenshots, or if you've just played Blood (or similar games). Fun easter eggs, non-intrusive story. But I just didn't really enjoy it. I didn't like the level design. Not from an atheistic perspective, but from a gameplay perspective. For some reason I found it to be lacking fighting, and when there were fighting the combat encounter were so samey. I am not saying there isn't a fight behind every corner, it's just that when I think back I don't really remember combat encounters, I just remember the walking between environments looking for items. Some odd platforming, some stupid trial and error switch puzzle. I just wish there were more "battle arenas" or similar. I just found it lacking in enemies and good fighting spots, for a game that is supposed to have it as a focus. I played on second most difficult option (I didn't like being one-shot), spawn only with scythes, and it was too easy for the majority of the time (No mid-level saves). It's still a well design game, a good game, it's just not a game for me.

Good but is just good...
i expected more of this game, everyone says this is like old games and this is true but i feel boring after a time playing, the level design and the enviroment in generally is very poor and forgettable. The gameplay is fast and responsive but the guns dont are fun at all. Well i recommend you to buy this but dont hype so much and probably will have some good experience.

Gameplay that matters
Dusk is a game that will bring you back to the good old times of Quake 1 and other classic shooters where it was more about gameplay and action and less about visuals. The theme has some horror elements but appart of that it's mostly fast paced action with plenty different enemies, weapons and most of all level varieties. Make chaos through the corn field, down the sewers and up on the shattered planet with inversed gravity. Each episode has something new to show and you will never get bored. There is also MP aspect which I didn't experience myself due to empty servers but if you can get some people together I imagine all the fun you could have! All in all, the game didn't let me know, it's like others would say - Quake 1 meets Blood!
