Dragon Age™: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Crashed "ALL the time" on my i7-7700 computer with GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB memory and windows 10! Sometimes it crashed several times after another just while trying to start the game! I liked the story, the characters and the variations of areas as such. But too much of the game was just micro campaigns fetching/investigating something, going back and forth between the same areas, and battles seemed to be poorly balanced: Fights could go well for a long time, and then you/a team member suddenly die(s).. And controlling the team members took too much micro management: During a fight I often found myself more occupied with directing the team around and making them perform attacks, than just fighting via my own character. If not they would die more often than not. Another irritating thing about this game was all the game padding in the form of A LOT of loot that was just junk but took time to go through to sort out the useful equipment and sell/discard the rest! Sorting out what team member that was getting what of the equipment was also poorly done in this game: You are always alone in places with storage crates, and you only have access to up to three other team members at any time. So you need to go back and forth A LOT between areas with storage crates and places where you have access to other team members if you want to distribute equipment between all team members at any point in time during the game and not just yourself.

One of my favorite games. Although this game didn't please every BG fan, it pleases most very much. I thought it was an epic return to form for bioware. This game with all the dlc and awakening takes me about 120 hours if I do all the side quests. The story and pacing is solid. The characters are interesting and have fun dialogue when traveling around. Leveling up is a blast. Combat is fun. Even nightmare difficulty is tough but totally fair. Not every choice matters but quite a few do, and some may come back to haunt you. Plenty of secrets that give a great mythic feel. This is a really fleshed out world full of politics, social turmoil for some, and lots of history depending on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go with this game. This game is in my top 10 rpgs and it's my favorite genre. I whole heartedly recommend this game. The role-playing aspects are every bit as fun as the combat. Plus...tons of mods for this game. I've beaten this game three times and there is definitely a fourth run in the future. For starters maybe try rogue or for something straightforward try the fighter. My favorite is mage with the arcane warrior sub-class. They are overpowered and can wreck shop with the right spell combos. :)

Download the 4GB patch for this game before playing, otherwise you will experience crashing! Great RPG that still holds up. The writing is very well done and the voice acting is top-notch! Take your time with this one and really soak in the world and lore offered.
