Divine Insanity!
I dont know how they made it but for my opinion this game is perfect. The gothic atmosphere embraces the whole design, music score everything. Story telling every now and then unpredictable, and there's a point in the game where you not going to believe what was happened. I could recommend anyone who might want to try out an out-of-the-way old school rpg -action game.

Incredibly slow-paced Diablo-like
I gave this game a second chance recently and while I had a better time, the non-serious tone really soured my taste after several hours of play. I had a better time playing a mage than player a warrior, but even that wore thin. The progression doesn't really keep pace with the story and the story is kind of a mess. The world is very large, but also full of trash mobs that eventually just get boring to keep targeting. The point when I had to quit was after someone takes you 'town portal' devices. Finding a place to rest just became a chore and turned the game from somewhat fun to tedious. I'm sure there are people out there who will praise this game up and down, but it's really just what you make of it. If you want to like it, there's a lot to like. If you go in looking for it to impress, it's really going to let you down eventually.

Excellent cRPG
Yes cRPG not RPG.. I don't know why it gets put in the category. This is one of the best cRPG there is. It's extremely atmospheric and you are immersed in the world. It's clunky and old, but that is a minor distraction.

One of my favorite isometric RPGs
Very few games manage to interest me from the very beginning. Divine Divinity is a game where even the starting area/tutorial is fascinating and enjoyable. It only gets better from there. It has one of the more interactive game worlds I've ever experienced, with lots of books and notes to read, items that can be moved and NPCs that can have opinions and personalities. It's a fantastic game that should be more frequently mentioned as an equal to the likes of Ultima, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Baldur's Gate, etc.

A masterpiece from a mostly bygone era
"Mardaneus my poor old friend!". As soon as these sweet, sweet words were uttered by Lanilor the elf, they've become ingrained in my brain. And don't get me started on an in-game composition titled "A Wind of Aleroth", which will soothe your ears right at the starting point in the game. It put me into a melancholic trance-like state and everything was clear to me from then on.
