Solid
Solid game but there are some major flaws to it. You will find yourself often cursing at the hitbox ratio which is just flat out terrible.

A gem of the 90s-early 2000s RPGs era
I love this game... incredible writing, great voice acting, good humor. The world has a nice depth to it that you'd want in a medieval-like/Tolkien fantasy story. Gameplay is extremely enjoyable, fluid and accessible to anyone, even if you're trying RPGs for the first time. This was the original aim of the developers, truly innovative. Honestly when I first played it I was pleasantly surprised, and wondered how I had never come across or played it before. It is like Skyrim (yes Skyrim had some nicer improvements from Oblivion) went back in time and had a child with Diablo I/II in the 90s. Might seem visually a bit like Baldur's Gate, but I could never get deep into that game, something about the gameplay was a hassle to deal with every time I tried to, considering its legacy. So this game is more liberating in that aspect, and you have only one character not a party. One thing that blew my mind is the inventory management, and the fact that you can move around and destroy almost anything in the world, it is out of its time. Other than that it's quite thoroughly an RPG. You choose a class, name, attributes, skills, all that jazz. Your character has a voice actor which is pretty cool, though they don't speak in conversations which is good in my opinion. The gameplay is pretty much similar to Diablo with the action and the equipment. Otherwise you explore the world, unravel its story, troubles, and whatnot, and decide to do whatever you want, decide to take a quest, let someone die, it's up to you, much like Elder Scrolls. If you love Diablo 1 or 2 and are fond of the Elder Scrolls, or perhaps even Dragon Age, you will enjoy this game. I encourage you to get it, even when it's not on sale. I haven't played much of the new Divinity games, but from what I've seen they don't look in the same vein or pursuit of this first game in the franchise, which is truly a shame. Though I am probably pissing off some hardcore fan of the new games with this, I hope you forgive me.

If Diablo and Baldur's Gate had a baby.
If I could give it half a star it would be a 4.5 thanks to fans. Please be aware that this game needs a registary edit and a few tweaks to make it run buttery smooth, it is VERY easy to do but it's a shame Larian put more effort in the trailer for the re-release than making the game more stable, as mentioned, the fans pulled through. Gameplay it's a mix between the single character dungeon crawl of Diablo just not as hard, where, in Diablo I always felt like I was close to death and fighting Diablo was a task, in this, it started off very difficult then I killed everything with my five scorpian pets, then launched another 15 on the end boss and I literally didn't need to do anything. Hilarous, yes, but not challenging. There are ways you can "break" the game as anything you can move, you can put it in your inventory so if you could move a bed...it can go in your backpack, intended too or not. Baldurs Gate in the sense that you can pause at any time and give your main character commands, makes combat much easier to manage and a large open world to explore, not Elder Scrolls massive, but still very big. Story wise I would say on it's own it's a bit shallow. There is a lot of things you can find but it's not as deep as Diablo or Baldurs gate with their massive plot lines. But, I would say that timeline wise, this is the third in the Divine series and playing Divinity Original Sin 1 and then this was amazing as there are reacuring characters who can give an illusion of your choices coming over to Divine Divinity, the other is if you play Male Warrior, your character becomes a key part of the lore in Divinity Original sin 2, Beyond Divinity and Divinity 2. It also has a great sense of humor, Lucian is such a likable character imho. So if played as a saga, you'll get a lot out of this game if played by itself, it's fun it's very much living under the shadow of the greats of it's time but it's still a very very good game that I sunk 100 hours in min maxing

It could be great, but the flaws...
The game itself is a mix of elements from Diablo and Baldur's Gate (classics), which makes it a fun game for anyone who grew up playing those great games. The central problem with DD (which prevents it from getting five stars) is the countless technical flaws that keep new players (and even veterans) away, so if you are is a newbie (or veteran) to DD, avoid the technical flaws by reading this: https://www.gog.com/forum/divinity_series/divine_divinity_improve_performance Hope this helps! ;)
