Din's Legacy is an action RPG with mutating characters, set in a dynamic, evolving, fantasy world for Windows and Linux.
During the Orc Schism, the entire Orc race was violently split into Dark Orcs, Zombielords, and the Mutated. The Mutated are tainted with Orc blood, a zombie parasite, and necromancer magic. This makes people seriously mistrust and even fear them. The fact that they slowly mutate over time makes it even worse. Who is going to trust you when you grow horns overnight?
Despite all of this, the Mutated are actually more closely related to the Elves, both their behavior and physically. They want to prove this to the world, but they are facing a tremendous uphill battle.
The trickster god Din was intrigued by their chaotic mutations and burning desire to prove themselves to the world. Always in need of champions, he made a pact with the Mutated. Each volunteer would become one of his champions trying to save the world wherever Din sends them. In return, each time they die in his service he resurrects them to continue their service.
Din's Legacy, as well as the Mutated's and yours, are all in your hands! Can you be the Champion that is needed?
Features:
Experience your character mutating over time for good and bad
Guide your character's evolution (choosing/improving skills, suppressing unwanted mutations, etc)
Use mutation points to mutate your character towards another character or sub-class
Uniquely created worlds for every game, with different scenario, win/lose conditions, areas, monsters, items, and quests, give the player a new experience every time
You can play this game UP TO 16 People. Perfect for a LAN party!
The Graphics are look like 2007 (no... not Crysis 2007 but how you would remember games from 2007) but after playing for a few minutes you just tend to ignore the graphics and focus on gameplay.
The game is infinite limited to zones which are random Generated. So no pre configured Worlds. But that measn infinite possibilities.
If you know what to expect you will have more fun than expected with this game!
I pretty much play all of Soldak games, for one reason or another.
The common DNA between them makes me feel at home.
First and foremost, are good and fun to play games.
Despite having a lot of games to choose from, I usually end up on one of Soldak games,
down the rabbit hole......
I still think Depths of Peril is the better game of the bunch, I played (and play) a lot od Din's Curse,
but this one might take it's place.
Out of the three Din games this is the only one I haven't quit playing after 15 minutes. For the most part it plays just fine, its an ok Action RPG that you can spent many hours into grinding for more levels and items ala Diablo. Enemy balance and item drop rates are fine for the most part.
But the game also suffers from many little problems, just as the whole game looking like ass, both the interface and the game world, and the random generation this game uses for everything is terrible, teleporters spawn without rime or reason which makes getting anywhere and back to town a slog most of the time. Inventory management is a pain in the ass, your personal and shared item stash starts out with no space at all, finding special bag items are the only way to expand inventory space, both for your character and for the stashes.
But there are also its "unique" features, like having to defend your town or its horribly thought out mutation system, the problem with these systems (and most things in the game) is that clearly zero effort went into these features.
In this game you have to defend your home town because if you don't you lose the game, but the game puts zero effort into making you care about this feature. The few people that live in town have no personality, you can't actually affect the town in any way other then to dump all those useless items you find into it for zero tenable benefit, and when you are in town to defend it from the monster attacks the people just stand in place not lifting a finger to defend their town.
Or how about that mutation system, the system that can take away even your starting skills; you thought you where going to start a fire mage and blast people with that sweet fireball spell, little did you know that before you gained enough skill points to acquire the skill you mutated and its gone. On top of that you also got a new skill that permanently drops your health by 20%. Now you have to spent those skill points fixing random mutations.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
