Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition

After playing BloodRayne and really liking it, I thought this game would definitely be something I would enjoy too. Probably the most important thing you need to be aware of is that this game does not support resolutions higher than 1080p. This bug cannot be fixed by just lowering the screen resolution either. If the monitor's native resolution is higher than 1080, the game simply won't start. There are workarounds for this if you care to make changes to game files using a hexidecimal editor. This is a very stylish looking game, I really wish I could play it on my 4K OLED screen. But I'm having fun running it on one one of my older PC builds just fine.

So, first of all, about the game itself: It's fun, it's nice to play (though you'll definitely feel more comfortable with a gamepad than MKB), the characters are different, all with their own style of play. The story isn't the best among the 5 Devil May Cry games that currently exist, but it's OK enough. Plus, it has my favorite design for Dante. The most damning negative about the game is repetition of content. You will traverse the same zones and fight the same areas twice. Sure, it's going to be with different characters, but still. And now for the point of the review. I see a bunch of comments saying that it doesn't work for them and to that I say that it works fine on my PC from 2015 with Win10 on it.

DMC 4 makes you wonder what if Capcom had the balls to upgrade DMC 3 in all its western glory both in terms of initial difficulty and boss fights. The Cerberus boss is far better than anything DMC 4 throw at you. On the positive side, the gameplay mechanics are improved and the Devil Bringer is a fine addition. The platforming sections and camera are the best of the entire series (including DMC 5). Cannot say the story hooks you but at least it's a decent enough excuse for you to be running around slashing demonic sock puppets

this is unforgivable, I just checked all three game son HD collection, and now checked 4 SE and NONE allow me to use my arcade stick from 8bitdo. ATROCIOUS. this is a console game, I want to use an arcade stick. Unplayable right now, I am waiting for patches. Thank You. Tagging You via Twitter also.

DMC4 has become notorious nowadays for being less cohesive compared to DMC1, DMC3, and especially DMC5, but that in no way makes it a bad game or not worth playing, especially now that it's DRM free on GOG. As troubled and awkward as his introduction was, I've always liked Nero, and his combat and levels in this game are still among the most fun of any hack and slash game. Dante's levels may not have the same variety, but his gameplay still has great depth that even DMC5 doesn't quite manage. This is also the game that established Vergil's awesome gameplay and allows you to play as Lady and Trish with their own unique movesets. All in all, DMC4 on GOG is a fantastic port of an incredibly fun if flawed game, and one that any self respecting action game fan shouldn't miss out on.
