Opis
W ponurej dystopijnej przyszłości ludzkość zasiedliła galaktykę, a społeczeństwo rozszczepiło się na dwie kasty. Jesteś ubogim bezpaństwowym wyrzutkiem, który utrzymuje się ze śmieci znajdowanych na opuszczonych stacjach i statkach kosmicznych obcych ras. Marzysz jednak, że kiedyś zdołasz wkupić się w szeregi uprzywilejowanych obywateli, zamieszkasz na powierzchni jakiejś planety oraz zasmakujesz naturalnej atmosfery, żywności i wody. Owiany legendami wrak obcych tkwiący gdzieś w sektorze Deep Sky jest twoją przepustką do obywatelstwa i obietnicą wygodnego życia na jakiejś gościnnej planecie.
Stwórz oddział maksymalnie trzech najemników i zarządzaj nim, badając wraki statków znajdujące się w zasięgu twojej bazy. Podczas eksploracji wraków w poszukiwaniu sprzętu i informacji napotkasz przyjaźnie nastawionych mieszkańców i kupców, ale także przeróżnych nieprzyjaciół. Pokonaj ich w taktycznych starciach turowych, które urozmaicają losowe karty działań bojowych, zbieraj doświadczenie dla siebie i załogi, zdobywaj na wrogach sprzęt, gromadź zapasy i ulepszaj wyposażenie w bazie. Statek matka pozwala leczyć rany i awansować najemników na wyższe poziomy, najmować nowych żołnierzy, wyposażać ich w coraz lepszy sprzęt, a także uzupełniać zasilanie systemów podtrzymywania życia.

Everything about Deep Sky Derelict seems to have been done right, from the synthwave soundtrack to the lore to the unusual combat system. It's rare that a game with procedural elements holds my attention for long, and rarer still that an RPG can show me something new.

Deep Sky Derelicts is a decent little adventure that cares more about the journey than the destination. The problems are enough to keep me from loving it, but the combat is addictive and the exploration, while annoyingly simple, rewarding. If you're a fan of roguelikes, dungeon crawlers, or sci-fi RPGs, it's worth checking out.

Exhausting
The game fails to catch your attention during introduction. UI is extremely bad and tiring to navigate, there's no player agenda to speak of. Feels and plays like a bad knock of of the Darkest Dungeon, but without the thrill of landing hits or avoiding damage.

Barebones Card-Based Dungeon Crawler
Check the trailer and preview screenshots. Do you see ANYTHING ELSE besides: (1) Menus, (2) Dialogue Scenes, (3) Battle Scenes and (4) A map consisting of nothing but squares with symbols on them, and some info in the margins? THAT'S ALL THIS GAME IS. The map(s) with the squares with symbols on them? THAT'S YOUR DUNGEON NAVIGATION. THAT'S ALL IT IS. The soundtrack was just ambient, droning WHITE NOISE; never came across the track that plays in the trailer in-game. The comic book art style and character designs are kinda cool, but that's really ALL the game has going for it: Its visual style, partially aped from Borderlands. This game's regularly on sale for about $3, and I don't wonder why...because it's definitely not worth the asking price; wished I tried out this game sooner, so I could've asked for the refund before my time ran out...another one on the "Hide" pile...

Fun, Atmospheric, Great Art Direction
Review Update: Just finished my first play through of the game. I realized after my initial review that I should note that I picked this up with all the DLC included. I continued to enjoy the game throughout and was very glad of the extra stuff afforded to me by the DLC. It did likely make the game substantially easier in the long run but it also felt great to be an unstoppable steamroller after having worked to get there for a good chunk of the game. I'm definitely curious to see how other party compositions would fare. Picked this up on super sale and very glad that I did. Although its still early days into the game, I've been greatly enjoying it thusfar and would definitely recommend to anyone I think would be interested. I play a fair amount of card games and rogue-likes and while I'm no expert in them, this one definitely feels like an enjoyable entry into the genres. Playing on normal, it's been quite a comfortable experience so far. Ambushes are either awesome or awful depending on which side of the starting line you're on and the mechanics have been pretty straightforward. Easy to play for a stretch or just a few minutes and feel like you've accomplished something. I'm really digging the art direction and atmosphere. Feels visually reminiscent of Darkest Dungeon as well as this board game I own called Escape the Dark Sector, both of which I really like quite a bit so I was sold pretty much immediately.
