Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!

Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’)

Players are able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix and match audio, graphics and user interface to their heart's desire. We’ve also included a concept art browser, and recorded a commentary track with the game’s original creators Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian.

Day of the Tentacle was Tim Schafer’s first game as co-project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators.

Thanks to the timeless quality of the writing, Day of the Tentacle remains as enjoyable today as it was when first released over twenty years ago. Faithfulness to the original art design is reflected in every lovingly-drawn line and hue of the gorgeous graphical presentation, and the zany humor is consistently spot-on. New players should be aware that the leaps in logic can make a few of the puzzles very difficult, but the witty wisecracks keep the search for solutions tremendously entertaining.

Must have for Graphic Adventure lovers

The only reason to get it is because of the game and Windows support. Remastered Graphics are meh, looks worse than the original, sloppy and cheap. If there was any additional content, I don't remember, because I did not care. Despite everything I said, I think this game is worth getting even if you already played the DOS version.

The Tentacle Returns

And looks better than ever. Possibly the greatest point n click ever (slightly better than Secret of Monkey Island and Fate of Atlantis), with the perfect balance of humour, adventure and most importantly solvable and logical puzzles. (without being too easy) You WILL finish this game, and you will have fun doing it. Perfect remaster with no noticeable bugs, seamless transition from new to old graphics and the nice touch of (optional) in-game commentary.

Good Classic Remade modern

I really liked this game as a small child and when I heard it was ported to Linux and on GOG I had to get it! Will be playing this game for years to come.

Absolutely Brilliant!

This is a wonderful update to a classic game. The sad, poorly done "Secret of Monkey Island: SE" could learn a lot from this. This game is a lot of fun and the remake gets everything right. I don't see any reason to ever play the original, over this. You should buy this game. Now.
