Diablo 1 in true 3D!
I remember my friends and I having SO MUCH FUN with this silly game. Between the replay ability and customization, there still hasn't been anything quite like it. Just go in keeping in mind how long ago it was released and you'll enjoy it too.

Perfect ARPG Gem
Darkstone took the Diablo formula(escpecially from the first part) and refined it to something really beautiful. They added some personal flavour to it and created in my opinion one of the best ARPG's even for today standards. If you can look past the dated early 3d graphics(still they have an special charme for me) you get a great game. The possibility to control two characters at once add a new depth to the gameplay and allows more different skill build combinations. But you can still use just one character if you want. Skill system is simple but addicting enough. Every class has a set of skills her or she can learn. Every class can learn every spell in the game provided the magic attribute of the character is high enough. Also the equipment is not class locked, it depends just on your stats. The dungeons are very diverse and so are the enemies. It is structured into junks of 4 dungeons each and a quite small overworld. So the szences and atmosphere changes a lot. The music and sound effects are great and add to the atmosphere. There is even a quest editor for this(not common back in the days). So if you like ARPG's just a little bit, there is no reason to pass on this gem.

Overlooked Quality Adventure
Having purchased this game in 1999 when it came out, I can honestly say that the level of challenge versus enjoyment has aged incredibly well. I still love this game. Obviously the graphics haven't aged well but if you're here on GOG.com buying these games, that's not a concern to you. In 1999 terms, it's a very pretty and vibrant game. The lighting engine still looks surprisingly good and does much to convey the atmosphere of the game world. I recommend this game to anyone that is a fan of Diablo, Torchlight, and other hack n' slash RPGs. You won't be disappointed!

Good game!
Monsters respawn. Lots of dungeons and quests. Infinite weapons and armor. Level and skiills increases.

A great, polished RPG with a solid story While Diablo 2 would come along and surpass it, Darkstone served an important milestone in game quality. An solid. enjoyable experience through and through.
