Conquest of the New World

I've played every 4X game out there, this is one of the best. Conquest of the New World and Imperialism 1 & 2 deserve more recognition. All are great achievements....

Although this graphics show the age of the game, they do not hint at the depth and complexity of the game. When I first started playing this game, I nearly gave up on it. But, rather than abandoning my investment, I played on for awhile... 5 hours later I was trying to decide whether to go to sleep or take just one more turn. Conquest of the New World is an amazingly addictive game. Anyone who has an interest in turn-based strategy games should definately take this one for a spin!

I remember starting at 10pm on a Saturday telling myself that I will only play a couple turns, just to look to my left and see the sun over the horizon. This happened too many times to count. The game is still one of the best turn-based strategy games as long as you can look past the old graphics and unadjustable mouse cursor speed. If you like any of the Civ games, this is a must. Actually I don't feel that the Civ series is quite there yet (I have not played 5 yet). I don't feel that it is as in-depth and I never understood why they left the fighting up to chance.

I'm not real good at strategy games, so a fun way for me to play is just as an exploration and colony building game. I'll just choose zero computer players and then build a huge world to explore and populate. Its quite fun seeing how large a population you can create and uncovering every single inch of black. It takes hundreds of hours to do.

Brilliant! I have spent so much time on this title... Now it is like a time-mashine to go back to 1997 (when I was playing these game). I had to chose between Warcarft 2 and this title. And many times Conquest had won the duel.
