Brütal Legend is an action-adventure that marries visceral action combat with open-world freedom. Set in a universe somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Spinal Tap, it’s a fresh take on the action/driving genre, which in this case is full of imitation cover bands, demons intent on enslaving humanity and Heavy metal tunes. Featuring the talents of comedian, actor and musician, Jack Black as super roadie Eddie Riggs, as well as cameos by some of the biggest names in metal music, it's a wild ride in the belly of the beast that is not to be missed!
You have the freedom to walk, drive, or fly anywhere in a fully streaming open world whose art style is inspired by some of the most iconic and hilariously rad metal album covers ever created. Every vista in the beautiful universe of Brütal Legend looks like it was pulled from a Frank Frazetta painting.
Fight alongside Metal Gods--such as Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Lita Ford, and many, many others--while rocking out to the most epic heavy metal soundtrack in video game history.

Deceptive? Not at all. Don't people read reviews anymore? I knew about the RTS aspect before I bought it. It wasn't THAT bad (true, it wasn't needed, but I enjoyed it) and the rest of the game is just pure, awesome, excellent FUN! And lots of heavy metal to go with it. I ignored all the usual "gather" objectives of course, they are optional (and it's sad to see them appear on almost every game these days). Stick to the story and you're going to have fun. And lots of it.
Take Psychonauts, mix it with a metal themed crazy world and add some RTS function. And get some metal legends to show up in your game. Then you could name it Brütal Legend.
Okay, it has some flaws, but the humor makes up for them double - i mean where else can you find slaved headbangers that have to prospect for their slavers with their blank forehead?!
Although over the years the graphic aging of the xbox 360/ps3 generation becomes more and more evident (but you can solved it with reshade), Brutal Legend is still an open world ARGP title (with strategic ARGP sections) in a devastated world, but completely metal with some really well defined and recognizable landmarks.
Great cast, excellent acting, not perfect map, but very well defined and graphically treated and soundtrack with 107 songs and 75 artists with counter balls.
The only flaws / bugs I found is the fact of positioning millimeter to free the chained dragons on the map and a tactical battle in the land of the dead 1vs1 against the AI that went for a long time. And escort missions.
Let me start by saying this game is not for everyone, but if you love beautifully designed open worlds inspired by Heavy Metal lore then this game is for you! Gameplay isn't the most innovative but it doesn't need to be.
R.I.P Ozzy and Lemmy!
No metalhead should go by their lives without playing this little gem. Nothing it does will blow you away, but like with me, it'll keep a grin smacked up your face for the entire playthrough. You can tell this project was made with so much love and passion, I get giddy again after 8 years from my last playtrhough. On that topic, I am indeed replaying this after Ozzy's departure. Join Lemmy in metal heaven, may you rest in peace, FOREVER IMMORTAL, ABSOLUTE LEGEND
