Easier than the previous two

Another good implementation of the Four Fs (find'em, fix'em, flank'em and finish'em) concept. This time a lot less frustrating (no mortar squads at all to face) and overall with a more arcade feel (now you can easily snipe an enemy from behind cover, something that with the previous games was almost impossible to achieve). (Still, even on Easy, you won't be able to simply walk to your enemies and kill them, your squad is required to keep them busy while you attempt to flank them). Graphics are pretty good for a 2008 game, too. The only flaw is the plot - I still cannot say I understood (some of) it at all, or really cared. But honestly, do you really care about plot in a game like this? Maybe you do, and it would have been nice to have. I really do not understand the complaints about the cutscenes - they're not that long. Definitely recommended.

Nostalgic

They don't make them like this anymore, what happened with this industry that used to pump out game of every genre and new ideas like there was no tomorrow? Everything today is Online, Multiplayer, Pay to Win, Live Service, 70 - 80 dollars bad games, i missed the times where the industry had guts pushing out new ideas and great games.

JASPER HIT THAT COVER

An FPS experience with some tactical elements that'll have you working hard to decide the best approach on a battlefield and will make you manage how you and your squad moves up and takes cover, really making you feel like you fight for every possible inch. An interesting and emotional story for your protagonist. This game will also make you utilize the explosive love of my life, Jasper.

Brothers in Arms goes MoH

The third installment of the BiA series tries to go a little bit mainstream and tries to attract newer players. The game difficulty is definitely not as demanding as the two previous titles, only the graphics seem to be a vast improvement. I can’t shake the feeling that they were pandering to the MoH / CoD audience by ramping up the gore and violence. And there are some boring scripted stealth missions which is definitely taken out from the tired playbook from CoD. Same goes for the story, while the previous titles had a creeping darkness that slowly reveals itself, they still had a balance and felt grounded in reality (they were after all modeled after the great HBO show Band of Brothers). This time we're dealing with full on hallucinations/ghosts etc which feels again like trying to rip off other games ( F.E.A.R. & Bioshock) which is a shame since the BiA series had it's own identity that made it stand out from the vast amount of (tactical) FPS shooters. It's still a good game, regardless of these flaws, because the core mechanic of this game are still intact. Although most missions feel definitely more linear than the old games, which has something to do that the old game's maps were much more open and therefore there was more room for movement and different approaches. It’s definitely worth checking out.

What a throwback

The Brothers In Arms series in general repressents some the best of what classic World War 2 games had to offer back in the day. Hell's Highway is NOT the best game in the series (That would be Road To Hill 30) but it is a great entry nontheless. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game and quite possibly so will you. Recommended.
