Beautiful and Unneededly Heartwrenching

Brothers is a game mainly based one gameplay mechanic. You alone play as both siblings. Objectively, it's a relatively unique mechanic, only seen on rare occasion in the likes of "The Adventures of Cookie and Cream." This original and fun twist is what the game is riding on most of the time, and it does succeed. In my personal opinion, it would have been even better with at least the option to play co-op, because much like Josef Fares other video game, the EA Original "A Way Out," it would be a fun and trust-building experience, but the game still does well as is. Brothers other strong point is it's sweet and sorrowful- albeit unoriginal- story. The two brothers must go on a journey to save their ill father, and the only known cure is the water from the Tree of Life. It's simple and inspiring, and leads to an epic journey, which I might add is brilliantly told with no actual dialogue. The characters speak but their language is a fantasy one and they mainly use body language. It was interesting and fun to learn to understand them as the game goes on. Many people have complained that the game is too short, but in my opinion it is well-paced and long enough for the small price. In short, if you haven't had the experience yet, I highly recommend it. But every game has its drawbacks, and this one's is definitely the ending. I've seen someone here say that it ended on a high-note, which baffled me. I won't give any spoilers, but the game's ending it ruthlessly and completely unnecessarily heartbreaking. A horrible tragedy occurs, and ultimately it's caused by a silly mistake and accomplishes absolutely nothing. Don't get me wrong, I love a sad story told right, but I didn't see the point in this and that upset me greatly. I guess I should've seen the signs. It's a telling point of Josef Fares stories to force an unnecessary and cruel ending on his players. I still recommend it, but be prepared for a harsh ending.

A wonderful game

I buy this game to see it suitable for kids to play and intend to expose kids to some excellent contemporary games. After all, the games I used to play are out of date, like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, I loved Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck when I was a child, and now i recommend it to children, but they are not as liked to watch Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as I did, after all, times have changed. The game has only been tested for 30 minutes and there is no time to play. But this game is very good and it's worth my time to recommend it to you. After going in there was no Chinese subtitles, in fact, no subtitles, speech is not English, I was scared a big jump, thought was cheated. Adventure game is not English voice also has no Chinese subtitles how to play ah? Of course, maybe it's a problem for me to set up, but I didn't really set Chinese subtitles. Although I am a 20-year veteran player and computer professional. But just as Chaplin's silent films can be full of life, real art does not require language description, you can appreciate it with your heart... So, without subtitles, can't you understand the Swedish language? You can also know what they're talking about, what they want to say, what they want to do. This is real art. A good game, simple operation, exquisite picture, decryption excellent, moving plot. Like a woman, kind, hard-working, homely, beautiful, what else do you need? Yes, this game needs good players to experience, just like a good woman needs a good man to accompany. Of course, it's best to play this game with 2 players. It's OK..

It's playable and somewhat enjoyable to play, it starts out nice, but half way through feels kinda like you are just running towards the end goal... Not much of a story, and i feel the fantasy dialogue kinda removes any feeling i may have had at the end of the story, i just thought "oh well" and thats it, as i just wasn't invested into the brothers at all. I enjoyed the unique-ness of the controls (i used a controller) and the puzzles based on that, the graphics and sounds are nice, but for all it's worth the brothers might aswell have been mute and just nodded their heads. Atleast it's short, and that in itself is a good thing.

Tale of two brothers love for father

I think it is a good, emotional game for adults and children. You can't hear any understood language from characters. But it doesn' t disturb to understand the story line. The game is not too long and not to short. I completed this game with keyboard and it is hardcore. The developers warned to have controler and it is all true.

Nice original but small and for one time

I' ll start with the positives. To begin with, it has easy mechanics. It' s quite easy to play, although sometimes it gets a little confusing because you control both brothers at the same time. It 's a beautiful story, though not original, two brothes going on a journey to find a cure for their ill dad. It has beautiful sceneries, which you can enjoy from the benches. It has nice music which adds to the story and the sceneries. The puzzles are clever but very easy to solve. The way you have to use both characters to complete them though, is something original and unique. Finally, it' s a close environment game, meaning you have only one path to follow, which is something I personally like. I'll continue with the negatives. The most important is that it is a really small game. It takes about 3-4 hours to finish and it doesn't have anything different to do in order to play it again, so it' s for one time only. It doesn't have any achievements to unlock in this GOG version. The graphics could be better. There were some minor bugs, but thanks to the checkpoints being so close to each other, you can easily exit and restart without losing your progress. Finally, it doesn't have any dialogues. The two brothers are speaking Norwegian, or something like that, so you do not understand a word, which is not necessarily bad as they use body language and gestures to help you continue the story. Still, you do not understand a word. As a conclusion, it' s a nice game, original in its mechanics and puzzles but very small and for one time only.
