Fight as a mighty Valkyrie to repel the forces of the underworld from invading the world of Asgard.
Gameplay
In BPM, all of your actions and the actions of your enemies are tied to the beat of the music. Your enemies perform a dance-like sequence of attacks to an epic rock opera. BPM is inspired by retro shooters of the 90’s. It is fast, frenetic and rhythmical. You can double jump, dash, rocket jump and bunny hop to evade your opponents.
Your goal is to reach the end of randomly generated dungeons, collecting different weapons, abilities and items each time you play. These weapons and abilities can radically alter the way you play, making each playthrough unique.
You must defeat 7 bosses to reach the final boss. Each boss moves and attacks in a unique way that you must learn to exploit if you want to succeed. Some attacks require you to jump over fields of lava, some to dodge fast projectiles, some to hold fast for a beat.

That satisfying flow and well-tuned gameplay make the lack of big-budget polish a negligible issue. The game is also only $20, making it well worth every cent, and further excusing some of the repetition and lack of polish. The biggest complaints with the game are not that the concept and execution aren't good enough, the issue is that the game deserves more content, more attention, and more development of its great ideas.

Really Bad
I am a huge fan of roguelikes, first person shooters, rhythm games, and I'm a musician. Rhythm is not an issue for me. I literally found this game to be unplayable. This has nothing to do with the unique concept that the game has, but everything to do with how poorly the game controls. I will have a hard time explaining it, but if you're planning to play with a controller, you're in for a nightmarish time. The controls in this game are horribly unresponsive. I want to be clear about this too - I don't mean that the game thought I was shooting off the beat or not rhythmically on point, but rather the actual movement, and looking around just feels wrong. I tried different sensitivity options and nothing felt right. I literally stopped playing after 4 minutes with this game. The idea seemed cool, music was not great, based on the first level, but the controls.... If you're planning to play with a controller, steer clear from this one.
