Just alright

I wouldn't say the game is bad, but I think there are better games in the fantasy action RPG genre. I'd rather be playing a game from the Witcher series, anything from Piranha Bytes, or even another game from this developer (Spiders). The main focus of Bound by Flame is combat, and it got boring and repetitive quite some time before the final fight. I'm glad I've finished the game but it was quite a chore. I'd raise my score if the game was more polished. There is a lot of mistakes in dialogs. For example a companion asks me to take her with me to kill a miniboss. We do it, we get a cutscene after we kill it, but the companion is still asking me to take her to kill that miniboss. But like I said the game isn't bad. The combat system is solid and fights are challenging. And the overarching story is decent and it also contains some decisions with consequences.

Bound By Flame

Better than I thought once you got into it.(One hour) Then you get your fire powers it gets better! I have played way worse action/RPG's! Solid story and solid action!

Disappointing RPG, even worse Action

The gameplay loop is unsustainable. It features a mediocre combat system that is unresponsive and unintuitive, with rigid controls/mechanics that are repeated over and over again. Now, regarding the RPG progression, it is simply useless. The progression system fails to add anything to the gameplay. Quite the opposite, the game gets progressively more difficult and our character seems to get weaker. I honestly don't know how they managed to do something so unbalanced with such small skill trees. If you're reading this, you have every right to think that I'm bad at this game because I don't understand the right way to play... And you're probably right, I'm bad at this game. However, if I couldn't understand the game's mechanics, that means there's a flaw in the game design. I only don't give this game the lowest score because the story was passable and the possibility of decisions that affected the plot made the narrative quite interesting at a certain point. The big problem with this game is that it proposes a mental challenge instead of a skill challenge. It challenges how long you as a player can put up with these horrible controls/mechanics.

The control pad doesn't work

I try using my control pad for the Logitech that didn't work. I try using my Xbox controller. That also didn't work. I'm pretty sure it's a good game and everything by preferred to playing with a control pad. I haven't tested Xbox 360 controller. That may work. I really don't know because I don't have a Xbox 360 controller. I'm pretty sure the game is good and everything. It looks like I'm going to have to play this by keyboard.

Not Great Not Terrible

The story is meh, the graphics are decent for the age, the acting isn't offensive. Getting past all the flaws of the presentation, the core gameplay is quite fun. None of it is ground breaking, but it has just enough diversity in skill trees and crafting to keep it from being dull. If you don't take the script that seriously, its almost funny at times.
