Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

It´s like Zelda, but your a vampire that drinks blood and makes people explode and everyone speaks like they´re pretending to be shakespeare characters. It´s awesome. The voice acting and lines is unmatched to this day. Esp the main char, his voice actor is just superb in any game and this is his best role. However the port is bad, BUT I have managed to figure out steps to get into the game and get it fullscreen that at least works for ME YMMV. Theres no graphics menu IN the game but in the game folder there is a file called dxcfg you need to run to set the meager graphics option there is. step 1 is you might NEED to run the exe as admin to get the game to accept the xbox inputs at ALL. Then upon actually loading up the game- First you need to press esc when you hear the water running or it might get stuck on black screen forever. And my gamepad doesn´t seem to have an accept button in the load meny so I have to use the mouse to click the save I wish to load then if it locks again in the meny or on load you need to alt tab out of the game then click back into it and it should be running. At least these are the steps I need to take every single time I start the game. Then getting the xbox controler working is just a mess, after installing windows 11 several button seems to register as multiple inputs regardless of what I set in the configuration. This is mainly an issue with opening and navigating menus as movement , attacking and using spells and items works. I`ve loved this game since I played it as a teenager and it deserves better than this. yes I mostly wrote this review to try and maybe save someone with similar issues like me the time and frustration it took before I could actually enjoy the gameplay and voice acting and not fight with a terrible port.

I'd like to write this review without any memes or quotes from the game.... but does one even truly have a choice? Once can only match, rule by rule the review guidelines, and thus defy the tyrranous mods.

Upon entering the options menu the game locks up, when starting a new game Kain slices the air uncontrollably and proceeds to walk up and to the left into a wall and there's no way to actually control him. Also the opening FMV doesn't play but the audio does.

Windows 10+ for a 1996 game? And you call it Gog PRESERVATION program? Are you out of your mind, GOG?

I have waited decades for this game to reappear so I will paitently wait for an update so that i can finally play this again after almost two decades. Black screen followed by a main menu that will not let you do anything even if you can get lucky and make it into options... You cannot remap controls, as a disabled gamer this is my biggest issue atm Be nice to change resolution or at least attempt to fill my screen whater 1080p or 4k, I've yet to try on my ultrawide but I had a feeling this would be pointless for such an antique. Please work on this and asap I have faith because I have no other choice cvurrently, I will update this if and when I get to actually play it with m/kb ffs!
