Blade Runner

You're going to want to follow a FAQ as closely as possible. The game is unbearably cryptic with direction at times, you are mostly just clicking through a movie as there isn't a lot of puzzle solving (aside from that really awful sewer rat puzzle, there aren't actually any other puzzles in the game). You're mostly collecting evidence to force scripted events to occur, if you miss things it can either effect the ending you get or brickwall you until you find the right pixel to click on in areas you thought you had already cleared. You revisit areas frequently throughout the acts, and as such will see odd things like a staircase in the background you are unable to interact with in one act, that in another act is revealed to be the entrance to a secret underground laboratory. Why couldn't you use it the first time? It wasn't blocked off or anything, the game just doesn't let you use it until the reveal. Really cheesy. The game has a cool vibe to it, the RNG elements (which force you into a set of endings each playthrough, you won't know exactly what roll you got until it's all said and done) can encourage replayability but really once you know the core of the story there isn't a lot to do here. You have a gun but there isn't a lot of action. I had this when it first came out in 1997 and thought it had the same problems it does now, it just has a lot of that 90s adventure game crypticness to it that was a turnoff of the genre for me. However if you like Blade Runner you will probably enjoy the game enough by following through with a FAQ. The writing is really clunky and vague, due to the RNG nature of the game they didn't want to hone anything but the major unchanging plot points that you end up seeing in cutscenes. Overall a clunky game with an undeniably cool presentation.

Easily in my top 5 point and click adventure games of all time... Blade runner has everything.. atmosphere, presentation, music, plot, puzzles, graphics, arcade sequences that are relevant to the story, detective aspects that are fun to do not boring or tedious, replayability, emotions.. everything. it was very innovative for its time with multiple endings and multiple solutions to some puzzles. It aged very well - I replayed it very recently and it was an excellent experience. I highly recommend it to everybody. Thanks GOG for this wonderful Christmas gift!

Wpadłem radosny, chcąc zakupić grę, ale niestety - nie ma polskiej wersji. Szkoda, szkoda, wielka szkoda. Czekam zatem. Z nadzieją! ps GOG proszę o wersję PL :)

I played this game, back in the days. I also replay it, few weeks ago (YES, you can still pay your original copy on windows 10 ... it's a little bit tricky but you can). that's why buying from GOG is great opportunity to play this game without any technical problem ... I'm must also say that I'm a big fan of the movie (ans less about the sequel...). You won't play with the heroes from the movies here, but you will hear about them, indirectly. You will get many different endings. The interaction is most of the time limited (approach people, speak, shoot, etc.) The technical aspect was really "ahead of its time", but... more than 20 years later, it's very blurry. it's sometimes problematic, especially during the research sequences (you are a cop and you must find some evidences in order to continue your investigation). The pro gamers of adventure games will know by heart what I'm referring to : you need to find evidences, on a pixel base. If you have a blurry image (the game looks like someone "zoomed" the picture... ) . this is the "price to pay" when you choose to use the voxel technology in your game... If you read me up to this point you can think I don't like this game at all... but on contrary ! With this game, you can feel the '"ambiance" of the movie. You will find new musics composition (made by Frank Klepacki) but Vangeli's partition is there too. (Too bad GOG didn't get also the CD music from Frank Klepacki... ) You can feel that you are a blade runner in cyberpunk futuristic world, just like in the movie! For me, this game is an interesting experience because it started the changing of adventure games. Between FMV games from this era ( with basic actions like "interact, watch a movie , interact watch another movie"..) and the traditional adventure games (like Atlantis , full 3D but most of time an empty background with no NPC to interact...), you have Blade runner !

This game is a masterpiece. Before the concept of a game company consulting directors, set designers, prop masters, and art directors for the films they were adapting became standard practice - there was Westwood Studios’s Blade Runner. They went to the source material: sketch books of sets and characters by the creators of the film - they even built their prerendered 3D game sets out of “junk” assets just like the prop masters and set designers did for the film. The end result is art worthy of the Blade Runner title in every way. The story is fantastic, the pace is methodical with moments of intense suspense and action, the characters are mysterious, making you suspect everyone, and the moral grey area is exactly on brand with the film. I can’t recommend this game enough. Please do yourself a favor and give it a play through.
