Not that good a game
A game that could have been better. There are some great elements in this game but some very poor too. I like that you create your own character, that's always a plus. I hate it when a game impose me a character... especially one that I think sucks. Graphics, sounds and music are acceptable. And since this is a turn-based hack & slash (not a rpg at all since you have no choice in the story, no freedom either), the graphics could have been a bit better, especially the cutscenes. It's much easier to make good animations and graphics for turn-based closed environment games, no clipping to test like in open worlds games for example. They take elements from Realms of Arkania which intrigued and hooked me. But after spending an hour or two on this game, I've found out that it is difficult, even at the easy level, there are some stupid features like since he enemy is harder, your spell is harder to cast (LOL, that's one of the dumbest logic I have ever seen in a video game!), characters have 98% chance to succeed but miss their rolls like 20% of the time, etc. Really crappy game design sometimes. Game design is so bad that you cannot accelerate movement in battles for a quicker battle, you cannot sim battles, you can't even rotate the freakin' camera... they give a pathetic excuse of "it's because how the levels are created"... well, if you would have created the game like a proper 2010 game, it wouldn't have such a lame design. Some spells are TOTALLY useless, like all the debuffs are useless. My characters got debuffed and it did no even hinder them in combat, whether I played easy or medium difficulty level. I get blasted by a cold spell, the only downside I've noticed is that my characters moves slower for a short while... meh! They could have made a nice game with a multiple path storyline and by removing those flaws, but we all know they did as bad with the sequel. Don't buy this unlike you like redundant, repetitive, goalless hack'n'slash turn-based combat.
