Bio Menace

GREAT GAME. REALLY REMINDED ME OF OLD TIMES

decided to give this game a try because it was free, and it had very good reviews. after having played Bio Menace for a bit, it seems to me that the high review scores were driven by nostalgia, because the game is really nothing to write home about. For it's time, Bio Menace was probably a decent game, but today, we have to take into account the quality of modern games and the standards that they set, and since this review will not be read in 1993, I think that it is fair to judge it by 2016 standards. so about the game, it's a pretty generic platformer that feels like it was made by a team of programmers, not game designers, artists or composers the core gameplay is fine, but the level design is overly simple and does not facilitate the combat well. the art is a mixed bag, with some sprites looking great and others looking ugly and uninspired. I'm guessing that Apogee used left over sprites from other projects made by different artists. overall, I would say that the art lacks direction. While I would not recommend this game, it obviously has its audience. In my opinion, some dos games still hold up today, but this one does not. If you like old dos games, this one is better than many, and if you grew up with this game, I urge you not to let your nostalgia blind you.
