One of the best games ever
This game is what games need to be more about, it is extremely high quality and was very groundbreaking for its time, and even now there are few games that have great gameplay but actually focus on an amazing storyline. As some have already mentioned, this game has a Zelda kind of feel, but it's following a much more mature route of concentrating on story and plot rather than Zelda. I urge you to buy this game to support the game and most importantly to support the sequel which is in development but Ubisoft are very hesitant to release due to poor sales of this first game.

A sadly overlooked classic
I can't begin to tell you how glad I am to see that Beyond Good and Evil is being resurrected / given the second chance it rightfully deserves. This is a game begging for a sequel, and for the life of me I can't figure out why people did not buy this game in droves. In my case, I didn't get it til the price was about $10 in a PC bargain bin, and even then I bought it on a whim. Perhaps the marketing angle sucked. I still remember the characters and the story from this game, and I haven't played it in years. It looks beautiful, plays beautiful, has excellent voice acting and multiple translations (though I only played in English). I'm going to dust off my old copy. I'm tempted to buy another copy from here just so Ubisoft gets the message... Hurry up and make BG&E 2!

Great adventure game
I don't want to sound like that guy that proclaims everything as "the best," but this game is honestly one of the best games I've ever played in my life.

I don't get why this games gets compared to other (great) games somo much. Sure, it has some of the Zelda mechanics, some of the stealth from Metal Gear and spy games (actually made fun to play) and even some animal photography wich might remind you of Pokemon Snap. But this games has a soul if it's own: memorable characters, fun puzzles, fun fighting and a whole unique world to explore. Despite this game being action oriented, I think it has the spirit of some of the old school point & click adventures games, pehaps the adventure part.
