Developed exclusively for New-Gen platforms, Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady's uniquely designed version of the Batmobile. The highly anticipated addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City. In this explosive finale, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city that he is sworn to protect, as Scarecrow returns to unite the super criminals of Gotham and destroy the Batman forever.

If it crashes: Turn of dynamic fog. Solved it for me.
Pros:
looks great
plays great
alot of content
Cons:
Batman is an asshole in this
They rely to much on the batmobile. It's a fun mechanic but it's overdone
The ending is stupid
Verdict:
for 10 bucks TOTALLY worth it.
- "The Combat (Meat & Potatoes)", I saw some reviews here claiming that the combat wasn't that good, or was unsatisfying. I simply cannot understand how anyone would come to that conclusion. The combat is slick, fast, and responsive, and the sound really makes if feel like you are punching with your incredible momentum. Once you learn how to keep a combo going, that's when you achieve the flow that makes it so enjoyable. The combat isn't simply about punching people, it's about punching people to a sort of rhythm without breaking your combo. It's the best of the genre. There's a reason people describe many games as having "Arkham Combat." It's the foundation that many other games are derivatives of, which speaks to its strengths.
- "The Visuals", I am not someone who judges games entirely on visuals, but damn, this game is honestly still gorgeous even 7+ years after release. In fact, I'd argue that the mix of graphical fidelity and phenomenal art direction, makes it the best looking game ever made, in my humble opinion, of course.
- "The Story", okay, this is one of the main points of contention, and I have to say that even after years of analyzing the plot and observing the plot holes and flaws, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, how it ties up loose ends from previous games, and how beautifully executed its final part of the main campaign is.
- "The Big Batmobile in the Room"—well, everyone knew I'd bring it up at some point. The Batmobile absolutely squanders a lot of the otherwise pretty decent pacing. Since the combat and stealth are so good, whenever you are forced to use the Batmobile, it will probably make you feel like a toddler being force fed their vegetables. Just know that while not great, the Batmobile is still really not as bad as many people make it out to be. The Batmobile shows up very frequently, but I really don't view it as game-ruining.
- "The End" with Sefton Hill leaving, I think this is the last true Rocksteady title, $8 is a steal.
I've played both Asylum and City before. Enjoyed them both. In both of those games I've done the main story and most of the side quests (couldn't get myself to get all the riddler puzzles).
To me Arkham Knight has some serious flaws.
1. Batmobile/tank parts could be left out entirely. They are tedious and annoying. Controlling this piece of garbage is a challenge in and of itself. It even has stealth sections, which are very irritating. i could see this game being rid of them and still being enjoyable. I found myself avoiding batmobile as much as I could.
2. Controls are as unintuitive as they can be. I was playing with a controller. No buttons, except for hit and counter, are placed in a logical place. Fighting, when you have to constantly switch between taser, hook, batarang and other stuff is incredibly bad. Memorizing all the combinations you basically have to use is really hard. After 12 hours of playing through main story, even at the end, it all seemed wonky.
3. As for performance, it's not that bad. I got some frame drops during batmobile sections, but other than that it was ok.
Arkham Knight has a great story, which kept me playing it. It's interesting, keeps you on your toes and has enough plot twists to get you going. I couldn't get myself to do any side quests though, as controls and batmobile sections made this game a nuissance. It's also terrible, that the game's ending is locked untill you do like 7 full sidequests. Who thought of that?
Overall the game is ok, but I highly recommend using a mod, which lets you one-shoot enemies in tank sections. It will make the game so much pleasant. Not sure if you can do anything with terrible controlls though...
While Arkham City set the gold standard, Arkham Knight expands on it.
+Visually incredible, especially given Arkham Knight's 2015 release sitting next to games of 2024: this is an EARLY XB1 game looking almost as good as PS5 and Series X games.
+Despite these visuals, Arkham Knight's hardware requirements are rather modest with post 2017 4GB GPUs blazing right through it.
+In terms of content? Arkham Knight is a Batman fans' wet dream: unlockable characters, costumes, versions of the Batmobile, modes, challenges, challenge stages...are dizzying.
+Arkham Asylum's combat has been even further expanded upon since Arkham City.
+The Batmobile, while a bit over used, gives you more options for traversing Gotham and includes vehicular combat and solving environmental puzzles.
+Gotham is now bigger - MUCH bigger - with interiors that match and sometimes rival those in Arkham City.
+Now DRM-free!
The story, the gameplay and combat is as perfect as you expect them to be from an Arkham Batman game. Really satifying stuff here. The only let down for me were the driving issues but even those arent nearly as bad as some have made them out to be. The only thing i truly recommend is that you follow the required specs for this because while its nearly 10 years old at this point, it wasnt overly optimzied for PC. I struggled to run it back when I had a R9280x.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
