oh man this game is so addicting, I played through so many times on my ps2, I will never sell this game, DA1 and 2 are smash and grab but the story was great.......ugh I was sad they never continued it. 24$ seems steep but I have seen the discs on sale for higher. 5 stars is for the ps2 game play...its such a great game.

It's Fine I Guess?
[Played on it's original platform, this does not account for any potential changes as a result of the port.] Do you like the epic tale and wonderful characters of Baldur's Gate? Too bad! Do you like hack-and-slash Diablo-esque game-play? Welcome. In all seriousness, this is not a bad game. It's not a particularly good game either. But it is fun. A bit mindless, but fun, and with a reasonable selection of classes for a variety of playstyles. There are some neat story ideas, but neither the delivery nor the writing itself is particularly good. Don't expect anything on the level of actual Baldur's Gate games... or as far as I could ever tell, anything even really related to the Baldur's Gate games outside of a shared setting for the first one (the titular Baldur's Gate) which doesn't last long. But it is fun. Would be a fine buy with a solid enough discount if you're fond of the Forgotten Realms setting and the like. Maybe full price if you're especially fond of action RPGs, though it's still not special in that regard it is competant.

Great, honestly
Game works great on my laptop. They didn't change the original (thank god). The only difference I can see is that the right stick no longer swirls the fire around on the loading screens. I see some people are playing this on keyboard - why? Game is too expensive for a straight port, too. But it is perfect. Maybe add achievements when you port the second (which I will also buy immediately)?

Great Hack n Slash
Just trying to balance out the review score with an actual review and not just whinging about what it costs. Which isn't a review. While I haven't played this PC version (yet) I absolutely loved this game bitd on PS2 and now Gamecube. If you like fantasy worlds and possibly mindless dungeon crawling then you will probably like this. I am someone who enjoys Dynasty Warriors greatly so I can imagine that some people might get a tad bored. If I remember rightly though you can choose one of three characters/races which play differently and have different skills. I personally had many, many fun hours playing. Oh and it is Baldurs Gate as it is based in the world. Like saying Lega Marvel isn't Marvel because it's different.

Seriously...?
I played this thing back in the days... not for long though. It is clearly the weakest game of the Baldurs Gate series, it felt like a mediocre Diablo-clone. And now you charge 30 bucks for this. Have you completely lost your mind, or are you simply insulting our intelligence as gamers? I really like in general what GOG does, but this is simply impertinent.
