A favorite from the good old days!
Apache and Hind were my two favorite attack chopper sims from back in the late DOS days. While the simulation is not as detailed as Janes' AH-64D Longbow, its still a great sim. Please, please, please, please, GoG - make a Linux native installer for this!

Quite satisfying helicopter sim
This manages to include all the right elements of an enjoyable flight sim. Despite its rather outdated graphics, it is still worth playing. Controlling your Apache isn't overly tough but doesn't feel too simplified either. Combat is fun, and there are a variety of missions that put the included features of the aircraft to good use. The battlefield feels alive and active once you get into the missions. Although If it has a weakness, the lack of communication with other units can occasionally make you feel as if you're either the only one who knows what to do, or the only one who doesn't know what to do.

Awesome Flight Simulator
Good controls, realistic handling, extremely top notch quality game engine, enemy is hard, flying is harder, excellent

Games for the more intelligent people
Do you like Fighter-planes and attack-helicopters? Have you played Ace Dumbbat? The golden times for flight-sims might be over, but if you look out you´ll find the right military- or civil flight-simulator of the current generation for you. If you want to have a blast of the past, with this pearl called "Apache Longbow", then go for it! Be warned: There is actually some effort to put in a flight-simulator, to learn how to play. The reward, when you mastered the controls and other aspects of flying, is almost exstatic. And with half a brain and not beeing lazy, you can do it.
