A Whole New World!
It is the year 1602 and you find yourself in command of a sailing vessel, navigating the waters of the uncharted island world of Anker. You have aboard your ship no more than an handful of trusty followers and a limited supply of food and building materials. You are here to begin a new life. As you select which island to settle, your future is already sealed, for each one has its own special characteristics.
Your goal is to create a whole new world. Explore, construct, settle, trade and defend - that is the challenge that lies before you!
ANNO 1602 A.D. takes you into the world of construction strategy games. Build a realistic, living world for yourself according to your own ideas; your chosen strategy will decide the development and destiny of your towns and villages. Prove your diplomatic skills in your dealings with natives, your comrades and pirates too. Start by building up farms, plantations and small workshops to produce, then use your business acumen and begin to generate trade with your fellow players.
But beware, for with riches and prosperity also comes envy and anger! Train soldiers and build defensive structures to protect your property and wealth, or perhaps it may be wise to put your negotiation skills to use outside of business?

Works flawless on Windows 8
I still have to CD of this game from like 1998 but had trouble getting it to run. After installing many fixes and patches I got it to run without crushing but had to disable the music. But honestly the music is 50% of the game experience. I saw the game on here and thought I'd give it a try. I'm surprised to say that, but it works perfectly on Windows 8.1! The game of course is a classic that I loved back when it was released and it's still awesome today! By far my favorite of the Anno series.

Personal best strategy game *****
Hading problems to run this game on my Win7 PC I was delighted when GOG had this in the sale and I bought it then. If you just want to relax and want to explore and create your little town and (positively) stuck/sink into it => THIS IS YOUR GAME !!! I'm not fond of strategy/real-time simulations in general but I loved it from the start when I bought it in 1998 and I still have the original box. There were periods when I played it the whole weekend :-) ! On the technical side the game crashes to a horrible graphic bug if I choose the 1024*resolution mode only the 800* graphic modus is OK! No idea how to fix that ... Nevertheless no point to take a star for this ... I can play it again and again and ... :-))

Problem ze Zbroimistrzem i magazynem
Dzień Dobry Jestem zmuszony wystawić tylko 2 gwiazdki, z powodu błędu występującego przy kolejnej rozgrywce (aktualnie 3 podejście). Mianowicie kiedy towar od Zrojmistrza jest odbierany - nie trafia do magazynu, po prostu miecze znikają przy odbiorze. Czy ktoś ma ten sam błąd?

Does not get much better than this
There isn't much I can think to say about this game, because it's perfect in almost every single way. UI and controls are a bit clunky, but it's an older title, and trumps nearly every other thing from the time in this and many other ways. Have spent and will continue to spend hours on it. If only I could get multiplayer to work! A beautifully and lovingly crafted, historic piece of art.
