feels wooden
It's a really bad FPS game, sometime it feels as if level desing only purpose was to humiliate enemies. Step into new area, track back, watch them shoot the walls, and take them out one by one. Ammo is plentiful, BFG feels like cheating. Hard difficulty feels like a breeze against stupid mobs, using power mode feels like cheating. Some level desings are really cool though, art style is awesome, but that's about it. Should've been a walking simulator instead. Oh, and the music does suck.

Optimized? Nah
A machine exceeding recommended specs listed on the steam store page can't even pull 60 fps on low. How you managed that with a game using sprites where DUSK runs flawlessly on the same machine, I don't know. Other than that, game's pretty alright.

For a universe-trotting adventure where you ..., Amid Evil is pretty cool. Yet one question kept recurring as I played: so what? For all its polish, Amid Evil is not a game that can compete with either its 90s progenitors or more modern FPS games. From the outset, Amid Evil follows a winning formula. Doom's arsenal with a fantasy makeover, a new aesthetic and roster of enemies every few levels, along with some fine tuning... But again, so what? Even on Evil difficulty (the hardest), basic circle strafing is often enough to sustain you between health pickups because most enemies have long windups (easily stunnable) to slow projectile attacks (easily dodgable). The exceptions don't fare much better, because Amid Evil
