Almost unplayable
The game itself would be an amazing 4x-roleplaying game, but it is almost unplayable currently. I can't even finish a small skirmish without the game crushing at least once every turn. Otherwise, amazing game.

Love the game but, man, is it complex
Good news... It's really complex. Bad news...it's really complex. I do not recommend this game for beginners. If you're new to this game series, start with Age of Wonders III. That is complex too but this version takes it to a whole new level. Admittedly, I've only played this version for about 10 hours so I'm still trying to figure stuff out. If there is a game manual for this game, I don't know how to access it. There are tool tips for virtually everything but trying to put it all together is a trick. An example of what I'm talking about is, to start with, you can only have 2 (or maybe it's 3) cities before you start to get penalized for having too many cities. To be allowed more cities, you need to collect some resource. It isn't clear to me how you go about collecting said resource. I'm sure it's written someplace but I've looked and haven't seen it. That's just one example. The same can be said for 2 or 3 of the other resource types. With that said, having played Age of Wonders III, this is a wonderful expansion on that game. The concepts are similiar. The devil, as they say, is in the details. There is more of everything in this game. I'll be playing this game for hundreds, if not thousands, of hours.

Fun game... but I can't save my progress
Fun game... but it's impossible to save progress. I've deinstalled/reinstalled, verified installation, rebooted my PC, run the app as an administrator, added exceptions to my antivirus software.... only to get the same save failures. As there is ZERO way to play this game in one sitting, it makes it impossible to get into or enjoy.
