Use the Freestyle Mayhem System to create spontaneous blasts and grab bonus points… all while dodging the fun police and showing them what they’re really missing.
Leave no fuse unlit in Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story.
Good game, awful controls, frustrating as fuck if you want to 100% also if you have a 144hz monitor cap frames at 120 and turn your refresh rate down to the same if your game isn't smooth.
Awful PC controls ruin what could be a great game.
For mouse, you left click to jump up, scroll button to jump down, right click to throw a bomb. For keyboard, it uses D, Space and K for the previously mentioned controls. There are no options to keybind to anything else, and the current controls are too awkward (and using a mouse just hurt my hand after 15mins of gameplay). Without a controller, it's just not easy to play the game.
Other issues I've found has been the occasional framerate drop at the start of certain rounds and how "busy" the screen is. In order to collect all the cogs, you need to occasionally carry out extra jumps/bombs outside of the game telling you to, but the screen is so cluttered with wardens flying around, bombs, particle effects, etc. it's hard to concentrate on anything but trying to see where the arrows are to respond to the commands in time. I'd personally like to see the arrows/bomb commands stand out a bit more clear, as well as better indicators of when you should be throwing additional bombs. The game tutorial tells you that sometimes gears are an indicator to throw one but....the game is full of gears? Not really an indicator imo.
Could be a great game and I would probably enjoy a lot more with the ability to keybind and fixing the other issues highlighted above. If changes are made, then I'll update my review. For now, will probably uninstall the game to save space.
I would really love to give this game 5 stars I'm a big fan of the Bit Trip games but if a game has controls as horrible as this one and there is literally no way to change them I am not only skeptical if a game has potential but even more if a game should even get a single star at all. This is a big disappointment especially in this day and age that there is no way to change the controls. For a lot of games this would not be a problem but especially for a Rhythm game it is very important to have controls you are comfortable with and you are familiar with. But if there is one thing I can tell you the horrible control scheme ruins the fun gameplay and at least for me gameplay is the most important thing when deciding whether a game is good or not.
I got this game free on another platform and played it for a couple of hours.
While it uses the League of Legends name, it bears little resemblance beyond using it as a backdrop and referencing one or two characters.
The story is simple: You play Ziggs; he loves to blow things up; the end.
Per se, it is a standard rhythm game. In theory, you could play it with the music off, as long as you have a solid feel for the beat. But the way it is intended to be played is on full volume, meaning that a good pair of headphones is kinda mandatory.
Since you are more or less forced to play with the game music on, I recommend you watch a let's play video first, to get an idea of the music style. If you find the music isn't your cup of tea, don't bother with the game, because you are going to hear the same tracks over and over and over again. If anybody ever forced you to sit through a ten-hour loop of “baby shark”, you will know why it is important that you LOVE the style before you dive in.
The game controls on keyboard (as well as the touch controls on Android) are frustrating to use, and hits must be too precise for comfort. To illustrate: a hit rating above 60% requires hours and hours of practice, endless repetition, and a good helping of sheer dumb luck. Getting 100% on each level borders on sadomasochistic tendencies. This is not a casual game; it's a game of skill.
Combine that with the fact, that you absolutely have to reach a certain score in previous levels to advance (reaching the end of a level isn't enough), and it explains the low rating. Repeating the same level over and over again is not everybody's forte--let alone fun.
I highly recommend the game, IF AND ONLY IF you:
- are not too passionate about League of Legends (you might feel disappointed)
- love the music
- have time and patience
- want a challenge
- own good headphones
- and ideally a controller
If this is you, you might enjoy it a lot. Otherwise, steer clear.
