Unsupported, bug-ridden mess

While the base game seems to have greatly benefited from the Early Alpha exposure, and its bugs are limited in scope and their effect, the Untold Legends DLC shows all signs of rushed job with limited quality assurance effort. As soon as I had access to the new content, I ran into several issues. One of them literally broke my game (and wasted the 20+ hours getting there) by corrupting all the automatic saves. Daedalic Entertainment's response to a support request amounted to "we are too busy working on Blackguards 2" - the game that doesn't even have a specific release date. If you check any of Blackguards forums (official, GOG, or Steam), there are plenty other issues which seem mainly introduced by the DLC - an no fix to them in the foreseeable future, if ever. Do yourself a favor and skip this - it's not worth the frustration, no matter how much you enjoy the fantastic base game.

Get it when it's cheap...

...unless you are craving for more Blackguards. This is a worthwhile but small add-on that provides a few new missions that integrate seamlessly into the game map. Most of these are somewhat demanding so they are probably meant to be played late in the game (completed them before the final chapter without any issues). The basic game doesn't feel incomplete without this so it's not essential, but if you like me also enjoyed Blackguards, this add-on will add a couple extra hours to an already lengthy campaign.

A meaningful DLC

This DLC adds a considerable chunk of gameplay to the main game. That chunk is well made, meaningful and on par with the rest of the game so it never feel like an afterthought. You get more quests, story and lore, new items and perhaps most important – more AP to develop your characters.

should be free

I finished the game and I have no idea, if I played the DLC or not. Based on the description, of what I should have played... Takate is not the best character, to really contribute, to the only good part of the game - the characters. The game gets tedious enough, so not really worth passing more quests for some Indian backstory.

Not that good a game

A game that could have been better. There are some great elements in this game but some very poor too. I like that you create your own character, that's always a plus. I hate it when a game impose me a character... especially one that I think sucks. Graphics, sounds and music are acceptable. And since this is a turn-based hack & slash (not a rpg at all since you have no choice in the story, no freedom either), the graphics could have been a bit better, especially the cutscenes. It's much easier to make good animations and graphics for turn-based closed environment games, no clipping to test like in open worlds games for example. They take elements from Realms of Arkania which intrigued and hooked me. But after spending an hour or two on this game, I've found out that it is difficult, even at the easy level, there are some stupid features like since he enemy is harder, your spell is harder to cast (LOL, that's one of the dumbest logic I have ever seen in a video game!), characters have 98% chance to succeed but miss their rolls like 20% of the time, etc. Really crappy game design sometimes. Game design is so bad that you cannot accelerate movement in battles for a quicker battle, you cannot sim battles, you can't even rotate the freakin' camera... they give a pathetic excuse of "it's because how the levels are created"... well, if you would have created the game like a proper 2010 game, it wouldn't have such a lame design. Some spells are TOTALLY useless, like all the debuffs are useless. My characters got debuffed and it did no even hinder them in combat, whether I played easy or medium difficulty level. I get blasted by a cold spell, the only downside I've noticed is that my characters moves slower for a short while... meh! They could have made a nice game with a multiple path storyline and by removing those flaws, but we all know they did as bad with the sequel. Don't buy this unlike you like redundant, repetitive, goalless hack'n'slash turn-based combat.
