Exactly as awesome as i remember it

I have loved this game since i played it on my own Mega Drive many many years ago and even finished it thanks to the password system since the game had no other savegame feature. It was one of the many so called "Doom Clones" back then but considering the fact that it ran on a normal Mega Drive, without any extra co-provcessor, really made this game quite a benchmark and a must have for 3D shooter anthusiasts. And not only for the nostalgia this game still remains one of the better 3D action titles of the early to mid 90s. This PC port of the Mega Drive classic is basically PERFECT in every way. Not only does it look and feel exactly as i remember it but it also comes with all the features you'd want. - Save states that let you save your progress at any time - Scaling versions to chose from - optional CRT filter - optional Borders, with or without the awesome Zero Tolerance artwork - freely adjustable controls even the 2 player mode is still included, which was only playable back then on the Mega Drive via Link cable. The game still runs exactly as you remember it and has no revisionism that ruins the experience. To make it even better, it is absolutely uncensored. Back then i only had a PAL copy which had the enemies replaced with Aliens. I am very happy to see this game being available again to buy and support the Developers. This really feels like a wonderful continuation of the Mega Drive collection and i a hope more titles will follow in the same fashion :) Definitely worthy 5 stars. This is a fantastic release.

Overall, a good title if not repetitive

A word of warning: I didn't play Zero Tolarance back in the day, so I do not have any ''nostalgia'' for it, but at the same time didn't play it in its ''prime'' time. ZT is actually a pretty cool console shooter straight from the 90's, and there's nothing wrong with it. Gameplay wise, it uses the same formula from the era: go floor to floor killing baddies in a space station. The game has few highlights, such as colourful pixel graphics ad a little list of selectable character to choose from. Yes, it's simple and a repetitive but I don't think it's truly a gamebreaker for this game. On y opinion, the only true problem lies in the version the GOG choose to present it: unchanged, and that means that the game suffers from the same problem as before ( low framerate, stiff controls and so on and so forth). With just a few upgrade the game could have jumped to a much more cohesive and appealing experience. Anyway, worth buying? if you are a retrò gamer without any prior feelings for this game, depends. Discounted? I would say give it a chance, it is a nice little time killer... but gosh the controls have truly... zero tolarance ( yup, worst pun I've made so far) for error.

Could be MUCH better

Ofcourse Zero Tolerance is one of best Sega Megadrive/Genesis FPS game. But this port/remake/re-release is quite not the best. Minuses: The game process is in the middle square. There is not even stretching to entire screen feauture. 2 player mode indeed there but not functional. Same frames per second problems problems as in original release. Enjoy your game.

An interesting relic.

The game plays with a sluggish frame rate and the controls were designed for a three button sega controller and this alleged "port" does nothing to fix those things. I don't think "turbo mode" even exists, or maybe it's always on, it's not really clear. It runs well on Linux with wine with full controller functionality. If you can get past the very very VERY slow frame rate, the game actually plays pretty smoothly. The controls are responsive and consistent and perfectly functional once you adapt. You can even pull consistent strafe jumps if you want. That being said, this was a king of it's era and still has a lot for enthusiasts to dig into. It lies somewhere between Wolf3d, Doom and Duke3d, being far more full featured and interactive than it has any right to be while making sacrifices to run on the hardware of the time. You can jump, crouch, damage walls, use various items, and there is an on screen mini map with a bio sensor upgrade that makes creeping through the dark levels filled with ambushes feel just right. This is a dark and slow techno dungeon crawl with deadly close range combat that really pushed the limits of it's time and was an absolute legend in it's day. It's way better than the Snes Doom port, that's for sure. Not a hidden gem but a neat looking rock!

Not worth full price purchase

I really don't get how someone can sell 30 years old game without any changes. As part of Sega Genesis Classics collection is good one, but as the game for modern PC is no reason to pay more than 50 cent. Even 75% discount not worth it. Stay away from it.
