World to the West is a standalone followup of indie hit Teslagrad. A 3D top-down action adventure with a pulpy, cartoony art style, inspired by European adventure comics. Take control of four unique characters, each with their own motivations, skills and interweaving storylines, as they seek to escape the dark shadow of an ancient prophecy. Travel trough corrupt colonies, lush jungles and frozen tundras, as you snoop through the secrets of a forgotten civilization.

World to the West puts players in control of four unlikely heroes with unique skillsets and tasks them with exploring a puzzle-filled map. The world and its humourous characters are presented in a delightful art style and the soundtrack is great but the gameplay becomes repetitive in lengthier chunks.

Minor niggles aside, I very much enjoyed exploring the World to the West and would certainly recommend it to others looking for an old-school Zelda-esque adventure to follow or distract from not having the sublime open world Breath of the Wild. It successfully captures the feel of a 16bit style adventure and combines this with charming characters and some great environmental ability-based puzzling. Plus, Lord Clonington has the potential to become a gaming icon for these hipster times. As I found myself unintentionally humming to myself, 'Together, we will go our way / Together, we will leave someday.'
