Not FM...thankfully
Football Manager is the daddy of Football [not soccer] games. It's deep, intricate and takes a long time to master. For us mere humans it's a trial that often ends in frustration as we can't put several hours a day into the game as we actually have real lives. We Are Football is a game. Comparing it to FM is nonsense. The nearest comparison is the old FIFA Manager games, and WAF is far superior to them. 1 - IT'S A GAME! 2 - It's enjoyable. Not as deep as FM, but you can complete a season in a couple of hours. 3 - There is an actual tutorial. Not a brilliant one, but it's more than FM ever gave you. 4 - The help pages actually tell you something useful about tactics, players, ratings, data etc. Unlike FM which just points you in the general direction. There are two possible drawbacks. 1 - No real clubs/players/competitions - Meh. Don't care. I just want to play a football management game. That said, it's pretty easy to work out who is who. 2 - Not many nations/leagues - There are enough. More than enough for mere humans like me. So, what do you get with a WAF? - You get to manage a club, buy players, negotiate contracts and some other stuff you can do in FM. - You also get the chance to see actual improvement in your skills, skills that actually give you other options and improve your game experience. On top of this, you get realtime feedback on how you're doing. - The training is as involved as you want it to be. - You can delegate tasks to other people. - There is more interaction with the board, better interaction with the players, and a lot more with the fans. The latter can make or break you. - You can set up academies in other nations. There are other things I've yet to try out as I've only played if for a few hours. It's markedly different to FM, but far more enjoyable for those of us who want a game rather than a simulation. To the makers of WAF: Please, do NOT try and be an FM clone. Improve on the solid foundations you've given me
